Here's what it says at the site:
This service will be unavailable starting at 10 p.m. Eastern until approximately 1 a.m. due to planned maintenance on:
Thursday, April 23, 2020
Friday, April 24, 2020
Saturday, April 25, 2020
What that means, I do not know, but you can't get to the form at this time.

(4,448 posts)I just said this to one of my customers this morning
"You either plan a scheduled downtime, or you react to a surprise downtime"
3 separate events seems excessive though, but this is the IRS we are talking about.

(23,738 posts)My status changed from "we have no idea" to "you are eligible, but we don't know where to send the check", which is silly, since I file with direct deposit every year.
So I entered my bank account information in the form provided, and they said they would send one. That was about 8 AM Central time this morning.

(15,278 posts)The maintenance is being done from yesterday thru Sat at night from 10PM to 1AM. I got in very early this morning after the cats awoke me wanting to be fed. No problems at all getting in.

(12,157 posts)My bank was taken over by another bank. The routing number and account numbers changed on the 20th. I had forgotten my SSA password which was compounded by an email address change. I was sent a letter with a reset code. The letter was particularly unclear in how to use it. I call SSA and was on hold for a paltry 30-40 minutes. I was finally answered by a wonderful person. She kindly guided me through the process and I got the bank info changed.
Guess what? There are only two options as to when this will take place beginning June or July.
So I called my bank and was assured that my Social Security direct deposit would go in on the old info. What a relief.
Next I changed the info on the accounts that draw on my checking account. Everything went OK until I went to my electrical utility - the service was down. So I went to IRS.gov to fill that form. IRS doesn't have my banking info (I'm sure the actually do) because I have had to pay extra since I retired. I got no return.
All totally I spent 3+hours of frustration. I was able to get into the electrical utility site this morning. We'll see if I fingerboned the numbers in correctly. Who needs a great credit score?

It gives them the ability to test without problems arising

I receive SSA direct deposit, but we have owed IRS in recent years. The SSA and IRS may not be talking to each other etc.

(2,769 posts)Was checking on when I'd get the stimulus check and .... wait for it .... got a page that said they don't have certain information (like my direct deposit info). I get a direct deposit SS check every month!
Just in case they lost that information, I filled out all the direct deposit stuff again.
