Anderson Cooper stunned after Trump claims he was being sarcastic about injecting disinfectant: You just saw the president lying
What you just heard is the president of the United States just lying, Cooper said. Its fascinating because hes lying about something that we all witnessed just yesterday of him talking to his own coronavirus task force about research on injecting bleach, disinfectants into people, somehow cleaning them from the inside there was no sarcasm, we have the tape.

(33,345 posts)It was NOT sarcasm.
It was wildly inappropriate speculation, but at heart, he is a Mountebank.

So they resort to the tried and true .. just bluster and lie.

(33,345 posts)But it's like they don't know what Sarcasm is.
Or that it's a great catch-all excuse for pathological Sociopathy.
Or they think the shut-ins watching Fox don't know...

(3,626 posts)This is another one of those PR things Trump has been doing for years. When something you've said blows up in your face it was just a joke, I was kidding, sorry you can't tell sarcasm when you hear it. It doesn't matter that this is itself another Big Lie on which you might get called out; it distances you from the first one, and eventually if you do it enough people get tired of even challenging them. Goebbels FTW.

(33,345 posts)Supposing we hit the body with a tremendous, if it's ultraviolet or very powerful light. And I think he said that hasn't been checked but he was going to test it. Then I said what it if you brought the light inside of the body which you could do either through the skin or some other way and I think you said you were going to test that, too. Sounds interesting. Then I see the disinfectant, knocks it out in one minute. Is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside, or almost a cleaning because you see it gets on the lungs. That you're gonna have to use medical doctors. Because it sounds interesting. The way the light killed that in one minute is pretty powerful.
See the "supposing", the "is there a way"? He's very good at including these "outs" in his rambling gaslighting.
stopdiggin
(11,306 posts)in there. And people are making this out that he said we "should" do this. Not entirely accurate.
But just incredibly and stunningly ignorant .. practically brain dead in any case. He's not going to get much relief from this quarter!

Thats what we just witnessed, and Trumps response is tragically predictable.

(28,257 posts)trump lacks anything approaching a genuine ability for sarcasm. He can be hateful, spiteful, bullying, insulting and cruel---but sarcastic? Nope. He was serious as a covid-19 ventilator yesterday.

This is why the post office is constantly struggling.
https://ips-dc.org/how-congress-manufactured-a-postal-crisis-and-how-to-fix-it/
In 2006, Congress passed a law that imposed extraordinary costs on the U.S. Postal Service. The Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act (PAEA) required the USPS to create a $72 billion fund to pay for the cost of its post-retirement health care costs, 75 years into the future. This burden applies to no other federal agency or private corporation.
If the costs of this retiree health care mandate were removed from the USPS financial statements, the Post Office would have reported operating profits in each of the last six years. This extraordinary mandate created a financial crisis that has been used to justify harmful service cuts and even calls for postal privatization. Additional cuts in service and privatization would be devastating for millions of postal workers and customers.
Can the media not hold two thoughts at the same time?

(5,640 posts)you are basically paralyzed and stunned and then he dismisses you and moves on before you can recover your brain function.
I liken the effect to that of the Electric Eel when they stun their prey.
His word jumbles are the equivalent of the electric shock by the eel, except it is the brain that is paralyzed, rather than the entire body.

(45,806 posts)truth about the seriousness of the virus. She responded "Awe, he's just trying to make the people feel better." That's what his supporters all do, find a reason for anything he says & does.
Then after explaining away all of DT's stupidity, she said "I just hope we don't gets stuck with Joe Biden! His mind is gone. He doesn't even know where he's doing his campaign speech. Names the wrong location all the time." When I asked what she meant by ALL THE TIME, she said well I saw a video of one of them. ONE??? She doesn't admit that when a candidate goes from town to town making speeches, it's real easy to mistake which one you're in this stop.

(9,140 posts)Trump cannot NOT lie. It's in his DNA. His very nature is to spout endless streams of molten bullshit.
Any media outlet that disseminates what Trump says must refute those lies in real time as he is covered, or simply not cover him at all.
Doing anything less is an affront to the principles that journalists aspire to or espouse.

(3,112 posts)...or him claiming he likes to grab women "by the pussy" was just "locker room talk", or pick your favorite outlandish comment-turned-about-faced-denial, it's all the same. He says it. It's on tape. The context is clear as day. There is nothing not to understand.
One more time, all together now: He says it, he swears up and down he never said it and blames everyone else, he gets away with it.
It truly is the story of his life.
The question is when this current chapter ends on November 3rd, will he simply get away with it again? Cuz we can't afford the epilogue of four more years.
