He was at radiation therapy on Wednesday and his heart rate has been to high. Didnt show up for his food... so I knew something was wrong. So I started texting till he answered. They admitted him.
They are doing some procedure this morning to shock his heart back in rhythm.
Im very worried about him. Like he dont have enough to battle!

(16,241 posts)and I hope things go well for him.
My MIL has this done about once a year. After it's in rhythm they adjust her meds and keep her overnight to make sure it stays that way. With his other health problems, this may take a bit more medical intervention and observation before he is released. When it happened to my MIL the 1st time she responded to the meds well- too well and it lowered her heart rate too much. It is a delicate balance and everyone is different.
One thing for sure, he was certainly in the right place when this happened.
The downside now that it is a known condition- no more caffeine. Ever.

(16,241 posts)I think that may be harder than the actual treatment.
It's breaking my heart not being with my FIL right now. He's at the end stage of cancer. My MIL and I agreed not coming is in his best interest. Even though we have been self isolating, we could catch Covid on the trip there and not know it. Not worth the chance. Not worth the guilt.

(16,241 posts)My daughter is coming this week. I am worried and overjoyed at the same time. I know she has been in self isolation for a month, only going out to grocery shop. We joke that she just wants 4 different walls to stare at. Our big outing while she is here...Costco.

(13,821 posts)everyone it means so much. He loves D.U.
and posts quite a bit. He reads it like the newspaper and gave me hell for posting about this as he never wants anyones sympathy.
They were taking him at 9:00

(283 posts)I've been through that heart shock business a couple of times. Once a few years ago and twice last year (first one didn't work). It"s amazing the stuff they do. Plus he won't feel it while it's happening. They do knock you out.
