McConnell Refuses Funds For Blue States As His Kentucky Is 2nd Most Dependent On Federal Cash

https://www.politicususa.com/2020/04/23/mitch-mcconnell-slams-blue-states-as-his-kentucky-is-2nd-most-dependant-on-federal-cash.html

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell refused to give virus hit blue states aid, but his state of Kentucky is the second most dependent on federal funds.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo hammered McConnell for his state taking $148 billion more federal dollars than they put in.

It turns out that McConnell’s home state is one of the most dependant on federal funds in the entire country.

Via WKUFM:

Kentucky is ranked the second most federally dependent state in the nation.

A recent study by WalletHub looked at two key factors: state government dependency and resident dependency. Kentucky’s government is ranked fourth in dependency on federal money but is only ranked 23rd in the share of federal jobs.

….

Gonzalez said federal funding makes up about 40 percent of Kentucky’s revenue, the 4th highest rate in the country

Mitch McConnell is in no position to deny states their own money back. Blue states have been economically carrying red states for decades, so McConnell’s grandstanding about states needing to make up their own revenue shortfalls without federal help doesn’t hold much water when it is taken into the context with the fact that McConnell is the Senate’s second-biggest welfare queen. .......................

Force TN to enact an income tax, for example.

Florida doesn’t have an income tax. We don’t want one. We get revenue in other ways. Why do you think people move to Florida in droves from Illinois, New York, New Jersey? No income tax.

I am sick of states like KY, AL and MS taking constantly and impeding progress on civil rights, abortion and other issues.

I am glad Gov Cuomo brought this very important debate out into the open.

Legal way is to enact a federal law that prohibits states from getting more than they send in to DC.

If you want to spend more, do it through your own taxation.

should figure what they aren't getting because of right wing politics and deduct that from what they give the Feds. We are enabling all of the red states by giving them an abundant share of our taxes so they can continue to make toxic decisions.

I do think we are on the verge of that decision. We can't go on this way.

Red states generally bleed their wealth to the wealthy top 1%. That DOES NOT WORK. There is no such thing as trickle down in economics.

New Yorkers pay more in fed tax than they get back.

Senator McConnell supports changes to permit states to file for bankruptcy. Supported on a Fox News. That would open the way to retired govt workers losing pensions. Cops, firemen, teachers others should know Republicans want them to lose their pensions.

Finally, Moscow Mitch is getting blowback for how badly he screwed the blue states over on capping SALT deductions.

Those blue states need to claw back that lost money.
