'After weeks of shutdown, the nation began to slowly, cautiously re-emerge this week.
The first beaches and state parks opened back up, beacons of open space and fresh air. A few barbers returned to work, clippers in hand, masks over their faces. Even some restaurants were getting ready to serve customers again at tables spread far apart.
Like the decisions to shut down and order residents to stay at home, the plans to reopen have come state by state or region by region. They have brought sighs of relief in some corners but kindled fears of a resurgence in others.
Here is a look at which states are reopening, and how soon.'>>>

(12,712 posts)That is NOT going to turn out well and anybody who has read up enough on why would know that. In fact, it looks like it will be turning out very bad for everyone in some way. It is not just about masks and distancing, but gatherings and proximity as well.
The virus remains viable on some surfaces for at lest 72-hours and the reason it is a big problem is that it is HIGHLY infectious. Infected droplets can dance around in the air for hours. If people wear masks, for instance and touch the front or put it down on something and touch that, well, so much for wearing the mask then.
My estimation is that, after these premature openings and relaxed restrictions, we may see the rather huge, second wave that has been estimated and predicted from acting too quickly, which will then set us back even farther as far as the health, mortality, hospital and health systems, economy, supplies, etc. are concerned.
I am bracing for that because I am not just basing it on my personal opinion, but the information I have gathered so far. The fools who rush in where angels fear to tread are doing this primarily for the economy, not the people's health and safety. They are minions of death.
