Oh, yeah? Well, kidney stones pass too. That doesn’t mean it isn’t going to hurt like hell!

Sorry. My tolerance for patronizing aphorisms is very low today. We’re looking at a global depression. My daughter and I are both out of work. Politicians can “open up” the economy all they want, and nothing will change because business owners (employers) are still firing more people than they are hiring, and there’s nothing that any politician can do to change this dynamic.

Maybe that can be true for societies on the whole, but plenty of individuals have already NOT survived this pandemic in the most literal sense -- they're dead, and they're not coming back.

And many people will be hurt for the rest of their lives, either economically or physically or both.

Many people will eventually get back to where they were, but that doesn't erase needless suffering in the meantime.
