Kentucky's gravy train is now in danger, thanks to Mitch McConnell's heartless greed

Kentucky’s gravy train is now in danger, thanks to Mitch McConnell’s heartless greed

Kentucky *took* $148 billion more from the federal government than it gave.

"SNIP......

Looks like it’s time to reexamine Kentucky’s privileged status.

Blue states have been happy to carry the burden of funding red states for … kinda forever. California, New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, in particular, have pumped untold hundreds of billions over the last several decades into mostly rural red states.

That dynamic carries forth in states themselves, with large urban centers paying for rural regions, like the upstate-downstate divisions in Illinois and New York, or Philly-central Pennsylvania.

And that would be fine! Liberals are okay with helping out those that are less well off. Liberals have no problem with the federal government subsidizing telephone and mail service to rural areas—services that would not be justified by capitalistic math. We’re okay subsidizing rural health care. We’re okay subsidizing rural education, or opioid treatments, or transportation networks (e.g. roads).

The problem here isn’t our willingness as liberals to help our disproportionately rural Conservative brothers and sisters. The problem is twofold: 1) the bullshit pretense that these same people are “anti-government” and that urban liberals are somehow feeding off the government trough, and 2) the refusal of these same assholes  to help when blue states get hit with catastrophe. Instead, Mitch McConnells and his asshole buddies suddenly discover the evils of the budget deficit—a deficit that wouldn’t be so large if Kentucky wasn’t bleeding the country dry.

Their Repuke ilk were the ones who messed with the SALT deduction, hurting states like NY and CA.

Time to even up the balance sheet by pulling back federal money from them. Let them raise their own taxes if they want to spend more.

Why don’t us blue states want revenge? Because we don’t think like that and we realize that most people are good. Trump is evil. He is probably the worst in American history.

But those who follow him are fewer. Fuck them. It’s not about revenge. It’s about normal.

States like TN use this imbalance to get away with crap like not having an income tax. Pull the money from them and make them raise their state taxes.

CA and NY have higher state income taxes and should not also have to fund this BS.

It’s called taxation without representation.

Maybe not before, but since Gingrich I'm getting angrier & angrier.
We tried the "we go high" thing for a long time.
Enough. Bare knuckles. Slap them into reality.
I'm sick of it!
We played nice. We took the high road.
We got Gingrich, 43, the tea party, obstructionism, and now PINO. Eschewing revenge is not working.

We have a flat rate state income tax. It’s utterly idiotic.

It should be a graduated income tax like NY or CA. I would pay MORE, as I should.

I would top the sucker out at 15 percent for those making more than $1M and use the money to fix the GD roads.

This is why Republicans hate things like Medicaid expansion: it helps the poor, whom they regard as lazy and shiftless.

I think of these dollars going from New York, California, et al. to Mississippi, Alabama, et al. as being a lifeline to our brothers and sisters living in the belly of the beast.

Is he doesn't give a rat's ass about the poor people in Kentucky. He is engrossed in destroying the American judicial system to benefit the Fascists and doesn't have any time for people, especially poor people. While Trump represents the stupidity of American politics, McConnell represents the evil. Mc is a mobster of the first order.
