expanded testing statewide. I respect and appreciate his daily briefings. Notice that, unlike trump, whenever there is a medical or public health question, JB steps back and allows a doctor to answer the question.

4. Most of the people of Florida, especially seniors, are social distancing well, despite DeSantis.

The state has much less population density than NY. People are spread out, with a high percentage living in their own homes and driving their own cars. Few take public transportation in Florida, unlike NY. And with CA and NY locked down, that in essence locked Florida down too, whether they wanted to or not, because tourism dried up. https://www.vox.com/2020/4/24/21234641/florida-coronavirus-covid-19-stay-at-home

Apparently the spring breakers left without infecting too many locals.

And maybe DeSantis is also cooking the books. But you would think we'd be hearing from overwhelmed ERs if that was the case, and we're not. Or maybe Florida nursing homes are stacking up bodies in sheds like in New Jersey. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/new-jersey-nursing-home-coronavirus-17-dead-bodies/

Ours aren't here in SOFL. And, like you said, we have a large pop down here, but we are aren't urban, we are suburban, so it's easier for us to social distance.

Having said that, I don;t trust DeSantis as far as I can throw him.

on edit: a coworker's father works at the largest public hospital in PBC, and they have plenty of beds, plenty of vents, and are not overwhelmed at all. And, this is in PBC. Her dad said this is the case throughout the entire county and at least in north Broward.

too many people we ignoring the recommendations and almost to the point of defiance. There is no way COVID-19 is NOT rampant in Florida. If you don;t look, you won't find

But one thing seems certain. If Trump told this governor to cook, there would be a great stewing and roasting in Tallahassee. Even baking and frying too.

12. Florida data has been underreported since the beginning, but does include private labs

I'm in Clearwater on the Gulf Coast.

It's easy to see the effect of spring break...the surge a week or so after mid-March, and by zip code (in our area of Clearwater) for example shows higher numbers on the beach and roads coming from the beach.

In April, most of us on the West Coast have been locked down, even though there are always a few who don't behave. In our neighborhood someone called the police on a pool party. Older folks are scared, and most people are complying with the rules.

We have had a leveling of cases in middle Florida for about 3 weeks, except the issues with assisted-living centers where there are outbreaks. There is no widespread testing. We took a ride yesterday, and there are a few people walking in parks, or biking. We didn't see any groups at all.

DeSantan is crazy, a TP45 puppet, and stupid (he put his mask on sideways). He says dumbs things. Miami is the big problem. I believe that all the cruise ships docking there in Feb/March completely released thousands of infected people into the streets. It's impossible to do contract tracing in Miami unless you speak 5 languages, and can prove you don't work for the government. I'd guess there are a million undocumented immigrants in Miami who will not cooperate with the deporter-in-chief.

There is no way to find out how many have Covid in Miami, especially if you just report the people who end up in the hospital.
