He's been listening to Fauci and Birx and others in the briefings and private brainstorming meetings.
He got a bit overconfident and decided to have a go at freestyling it himself.
Unlike Obama or Biden, he doesn't know what he doesn't know.

Something most ( maybe everyone with an IQ of 85 or better ) people already knew months ago. Hence the whole hand sanitizer run.
Trump, being a stable genius, thought "If only we could get Chlorox into the bodies of the infected people! Or somehow get intense UV light into them!" and then he engaged mouth.

However, based on what this administration and the Republican party have shown us, it is contagious.
