Attention all you out-of-work Arizonans living on (waiting for?) unemployment pay: At least one state legislator thinks you hit the jackpot.
I suspect Sen. Sylvia Allen thinks some of you are lazy, too content to continue to live on Uncle Sugar even when (if?) your job returns.
Allen, a Snowflake Republican, is almost legendary for saying stupid things.
Like that time she declared that the world is 6,000 years old. Or that time she waxed on about immigration and the need for white women to step it up and have more babies.
Now Allen, who is running for reelection in her northern Arizona district, is worried that some out-of-work Arizonans will get fat and far too happy while collecting unemployment checks.
Allen was on KFYI on Thursday morning talking about the big score by those who've been thrown out of their jobs. And, of course, lamenting that some wont return to work until the federal trough runs dry.

(16,616 posts)and Sylvia Allen actually graduated from Snowflake Union High School.
We really have our fill of nutjobs and, yes, it's hard to understand why Arizonans vote these people in year after year. Allen has been around forever. Same with Paul Gosar. Some things defy explanation.
But thank god we also have Kyrsten Sinema, and Mark Kelly is coming to the senate next January if we can GOTV.

(12,712 posts)Allen has those good, down home, old-fashioned, Protestant work ethic values that were so popular long ago: toil by the sweat of your brow, (for us) because that's dignified and what you are here to do! Let's not talk about the profits at the top, now.
Dignified means that one should be very content, (and fulfilled) with substance, wage-slavery. You know, as many part-time jobs as you can get and handle and the thrill, excitement and variety of living from paycheck-to-paycheck, (you never know when you and your family will enjoy a homeless adventure of no return).
The Republicans and Red Welfare states try to frame this so that, if YOU get anything beyond that, you should be ashamed of yourself you worthless, lazy slacker, you. You are taking advantage of somebody or something, almost like a criminal. Hang your head down low and remember that there are some very important and wealthy people you should be supporting until your last breath. You don't think they go there by doing all the work, did you? You see, slavery is not okay anymore, but that was a great jump start for the real people who matter most and, by some Divine providence, actually deserve existence based on the labor of others with no need to share the wealth because, well, that's the way it is supposed to be. it's a law of Almighty Bog or the Universe or something.
So, you filthy slackers, don't get a kick out of your free ride there. Vote for a Republican and he or she will gladly strip you of any benefits that might interfere with your right to the dignity you deserve.
Also, don't worry at all about the robotic/AI revolution that is already in progress where we will be replacing the pesky "human resources" so quickly at some point your head will spin, (well it could be the malnutrition) as you wonder where to find any dignity at all again.
Vote for Sen. Sylvia Allen because vested interest are your best interests and a 3rd-World America is higher than one or two.
