All of the NeverTrumpers who were part of Republican messaging and conservative media were part of the road crew that paved the way for Trump. Kristol, Rick Wilson, Steve Schmidt, Charlie Sykes, all the ones who get much too much media time trying to tell Democrats how to run our party.

They stoked division, they leaned on hot buttons, they lied their asses off, they fostered a Republican base that would argle-bargle on command and foam over every horseshit claim about Democratic pols to give them the electoral numbers to pass their tax cuts and stuff the federal courts with ideological conservative operatives. It was just "playing hardball", no matter what kind of hellbeast they were creating. After all, they were in charge of it... until they weren't.

I'm fine with making smileyfaces at them until November 4, but never, ever forget what they really are. If you do, you'll find you've been stabbed in the kidneys by a blade with their fingerprints all over it.

Just about everything the NeverTrupers have written or said points to their wanting to restore the staus quo ante Trumpum, ideally the pre-Katrina (and pre-Great Recession, pre-ISIS Iraq) Bush years.

There are very, very few of them who've looked back and said "My God, I thought the foaming bigoted loons were just a fringe. It turns out I was the fringe and they're the heart of the Republican Party" and recoil from that.

Most of the rest are still doing what they did in 2016: Positioning themselves to be Republican kingmakers after Trump flames out. I'd be happy to be proven wrong, but I don't think I am.

He supported Gingrich and Ken Starr and the incessant witch hunt of the Clinton presidency that led to Trump today.

His anti-Trump campaign is bull. Republicans know and knew Trump was a loose cannon. He’s basically ruined the country while enriching himself and his inner circle. He’s stacked the courts and he’s now a liability to the party. They want to boot Trump and act as if they’ve been appalled by him when all they have been is silent until now at election time.
