Worldometers shows Indiana really paying the Trump tax today.

As a neighboring state I kind of keep track of them. They are showing 119 new deaths today. That is a huge jump.

That's not a useful number to gauging current deaths.


Here's my reasoning.

https://www.coronavirus.in.gov/ lists new deaths for today at 31, total deaths 844.

https://coronavirus.1point3acres.com/en follows these numbers.

Worldometer's the outlier, but if you scroll down you'll see "probable deaths". Worldometer includes those when they're posted. I think that Indiana just picked today to bring their totals in line with recent CDC revisions to reporting guidelines.

844 + 88 = 932, Worldometer's number.

The number is an artefact of reporting methology.

100% sure? Nope. But it accounts for the data in a principled way. Might just be a coincidence.
