Trying to do some damage control, the White House puts out this sad story
White House staffers said the president works around the clock and can make five dozen work-related calls a day during the pandemic.
He said Trump recently called him at 3:19 a.m. He wasnt expecting the call and was asleep when the phone rang.
I can tell you that he will go back in and have a lunch just off the Oval Office and more times than not it is interrupted by several phone calls, Meadows said. If he gets more than 10 minutes of time in a given day, I havent seen in the five weeks Ive been here.
A different White House official said Trump some days doesnt eat lunch.
There are times when lunch isnt even a thought, the official said. A lot of time theres either no time for lunch or there is 10 minutes for lunch.
An account in the New York Times that claimed Trump lingers in his bedroom as late as noon infuriated the president, who tweeted Sunday, I will often be in the Oval Office late into the night & read & see that I am angrily eating a hamburger & Diet Coke in my bedroom.
I work from early in the morning until late at night, the president tweeted.

Damnit. If they keep this pathetic stuff up Im going to end up feeling sorry for Trump.
On second thought nah. But it is pathetic. Weve always known that he spends vast amounts of time on the phone kibitzing, mostly to self-soothe and waste time. He mostly calls people who will make him feel better and tell him what to do because hes clueless.
And its clear that Trump is not skipping lunch. If anything hes obviously a stress eater. Im not condemning him for it. A lot of us are. In fact, it may be the only thing I have in common with him. But lets not kid ourselves that hes missing any meals.

(52,182 posts)if it's 10 minutes between getting briefed on each call and connecting and the call itself, that's 10 solid hours.
even at 5 minutes a call that's 5 solid hours. for calls that are largely the same and straightforward (phone banking get out the vote calls, e.g.) this is fine, but for the myriad complicated topics and relationships a president should be juggling during a crisis, this is ridiculous.
even if these are calling up people asking for donations (which is illegal to do on government property, but then, this is donnie we're talking about), you'd expect more personalized chit-chat for the type of donor a president would talk to.
or, they're grossly exaggerating.
wha-what?? this crowd?? exaggerate?? naw, never!!
