about "someone a long time ago" being at fault. I actually think he had wandered off script, realized he should not have mentioned the enormous death toll and tried to recover. I assume he was trying to blame Obama. Very clumsy.

He's such a blabbermouth it's hard to imagine he would have been trusted with hard information, but there would have been suggestions of what direction they wanted him to go.
People like to blame him as if he's all alone, but the congressional records will show Democrats' efforts to take action early in January and the Republican senate's refusals and delays, even some appearing in public and telling people not to worry while piles of evidence show they knew the truth and what needed to be done all along.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
