Have been waiting for my stimulus payment (direct deposit) no taxes to file strictly Social Security. Paper checks started going out last week and I thinking well it was a nice thought.
Then I decided to check https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus/get-my-payment after many people told me not to use this for Social Security and to my surprise it actually gave me information & said that my payment would be deposited on 04/29/2020.
If anyone were in the same boat as me, I would say try the link.
Hopes this helps someone out there that was feeling jilted like me because of sketchy information.

(17,107 posts)couple of weeks ago. It said my bank account would be receiving it on Friday the 30th. Just in time for rent.

(17,984 posts)Anything that can give you respite, even for a short time. So many, both men and women find solace in this big, wonderful land of Democrats. We really do care, even if at a distance. You can make friends all over the world and learn so much.

So disappointing that most of the 'others' got some kinda hostility toward humanity and creation going on interior-wise.

(2,191 posts)After weeks of checking for my older relatives who get SS but don't file, all of them are set to have direct deposits this Wednesday.

(2,191 posts)Other than checking. I just meant to say that I think after a few weeks of sending out money to people who had filed this year or last year, the IRS seems to have gotten around to the people who got Social Security.

(20,237 posts)We filed last year but owed a tax liability amount so that messed up thinking the IRS had bank info. on file. Turbo Tax has it but that didn't count.
Expecting a DD with SS as a second option. We shall see.
I gotta tell myself, "Patience, grasshopper!" 😄

(17,339 posts)to my French bank account.
I'm not sure about my wife's as she is not on SocSec yet, our accountant doesn't E-File and we haven't had to pay taxes in a couple of years.
And add in another wrinkle - if they send a paper cheque it will go to our mailbox, have to be sent here to France, and then we will have to send it back to our US bank via the postal service.
I tried the link last night and I got the 'information unavailable at this time' message.

One thing about this is that it's not 'existential money' for us.

(2,191 posts)She can get it direct deposited. She'll need to give the IRS her bank information in the non-filers tool.

Trump wanting his signature has slowed the check-cutting process down. I saw that it might be up to 20 weeks before people get a check.

I'm going to wait and see what happens with my SocSec cheque though. I don't want to confuse or overburden the already crappy system.

The state, he argues, should not be seen to work. If the state is seen to work, we shall never be rid of it.
Spoiler Alert:
Here's Bennett reading a speech by the Pakistani doctor who is going to be deported.

(869 posts)have a phone app that will allow you to take a picture of a check to make a deposit? Might save some time that way.

(17,339 posts)They used to have a limit on the amount of the deposit that was pretty low, but they've raised it now.

There's some good info here and it looks like some DUer's might need some of that info.
I almost scrolled passed the original post.

(28,347 posts)In the past, each time I tried this link I got no information. So, daily, I would check my bank account, and be disappointed. <sigh>
It just dawned on me that the 29th is tomorrow! Woo hoo! Every little bit helps!

(17,174 posts)...and it's already there! Oh, frabjous day! Calloo! Callay! (I chortled in my joy...)
My bank will "memo post" government deposits (the money hasn't actually cleared, but the government is a pretty trustworthy source, so....) and make them immediately available. YMMV, but if it's due to go in tomorrow, it might be available for use today.
Me, I'm off to the grocery (for the first time since in over a month) to restock my supply of Ding Dongs and taco sauce.

(28,347 posts)You gave me hope for a minute. I had checked early this morning, but after reading your response, I thought ... well, maybe, just maybe it was deposited today, too. But nope, I hafta wait, and I'm no stranger to waiting. I sure hope it will come tomorrow.
I'm grocery shopping, too. Ding Dongs do sound good, I think I'll try to find some chocolate Hostess Cupcakes. Mmm, my taste buds are smiling! Tacos sound good, too! Mmmm, mouth's watering.

(5,624 posts)I was able to put in my banking info and maybe now well get our stimulus.

(3,578 posts)I had tried to enter it at "get my payment" a number of times, but it told me something was wrong & it couldn't tell me anything.
I think I left out the S for South in my street address. I live on a short street and mail gets to me without the S, so I often don't think of it.
But on the website, you have to enter your address exactly as it appears on your tax form... and use your zip plus 4.
You can look up how the USPS lists your address and zip code here: https://tools.usps.com/zip-code-lookup.htm?byaddress

(58,785 posts)May 1 -- though by mail, even though they were given our bank info and SocSec is direct deposit. Our GA USPS is not handling forwarding at all reliably, so literally no telling how long in the future it may take for it and us to be in the same state at the same time.

(17,339 posts)It was late because it was a holiday weekend here. And stimulus cheque arrived in my US mailbox - Now just have to get it deposited, but my mailbox guys are taking care of that for us.
