Other states have been doing this for some time now, I gather.
No wonder the orange POS wants to get rid of the Post Office

(18,740 posts)..We even get a stamped return envelope and a qr code to follow the ballot to make sure its been counted. At first I was against it because our polling place was a historic one room school house just down the road. It was cool just to go in there.. the whole election day sign waving and last minute GOTV hoopla. Now we dont even have an election day..but thats OK!

(40,076 posts)We Ohioans got a stamped return envelope as well.
Over the years, my polling place has gone from a very crowded fire station to the local Jr. hi school (parking was always a terrible problem there) to the current location of a community gym. Last two years at the gym ... had to stand in line outside.
Really was inconvenient to near impossible for the elderly or disabled.
We have had early voting and absentee voting by request but I think all mail is the way of the future.

(98,883 posts)Not sure if Newsom will require it for November, but it would be very easy for California to do it for every voter

(8,435 posts)I've voted absentee for years. I like taking my time, not rushing through lesser issues.
