Reopening states too early will bring deadlier outcomes, coronavirus projection models show

CNN

(CNN)Seven coronavirus models show US deaths from coronavirus will keep rising in the coming weeks. But how sharply the death toll rises depends on how much "contact reduction" Americans practice, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said.

The models estimate the forecast numbers of cases and deaths on the state and national levels, and one model from the University of Texas at Austin makes metro-area projections. "State-level forecasts vary widely, reflecting differences in early epidemic phases, timing of interventions, and model-specific assumptions," the CDC says.

Models that factor in strong contact reduction suggest new deaths will continue to occur, but will "slow substantially over the next four weeks," the CDC said.

"Conversely, models that do not incorporate as strong contact reductions ... suggest that total deaths may continue to rise quickly."

Sorry, didn't mean to be so sarcastic but killing us for his personal profit is his plan. He knew about this last year, he is part owner of a tiny bio-tech co. with Jared's brother as the prime owner. He refused WHO test kits in Dec. and gave the contract to himself, it took 3 months for these asses to get out a viable test kit - 3 months while there was almost zero testing and the virus spread among us unchecked and infected a good part of our population - just for his personal profits. He sent PPE to China, sold them to China which was repaying the American people, then China returned the favor andshipped us tons of materials. These weren't sent to states that needed them, fuck no. They were sent to a private company which big up the prices up to 15x as high as normal making states grossly
overpay. Why is drumpf/evil SIL fucking Americans - for their personal profit and they are totally ok with us dying so they WIN. For them profiteering is the win, hurting people is a win and killing them is ok too because then they can't vote against him and the government gets their SS $$. He's even stolen materials states paid for and confiscated them to resell to other states at higher profits - and they are either getting a commission or were paid bigly upfront. Criminal murders and traitors is what those idiots are - being coached by PUtin to be way more effective in their killing because they themelves are abjectly stupid.

FOLLOWING REPORTS THAT TRUMP OWES MILLIONS TO CHINESE BANK, DUCKWORTH REQUESTS INVESTIGATION INTO DECISION TO SHIP TONS OF PPE AND MEDICAL SUPPLIES FROM THE U.S. TO CHINA

[WASHINGTON, DC] – In light of public reports that President Trump owes tens of millions of dollars to the Bank of China, one of the four largest state-owned commercial banks in that country, U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) today wrote to U.S. Representative James Clyburn (D-SC-06), the Chairman of the bipartisan Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis, requesting an investigation into Trump’s decision to facilitate the transportation of 17.8 tons of donated personal protection equipment (PPE) and medical supplies—when his administration failed to adequately stockpile, manufacture or distribute enough PPE for American healthcare workers, support staff, first responders and employees of essential businesses—to China in February of this year. Specifically, Duckworth requested the Subcommittee investigate whether Trump’s reported $211 million outstanding loan from the Bank of China influenced his decision to use federal government resources to facilitate the shipment of donated PPE and medical supplies from the United States to China.

In part, Duckworth wrote, “According to an April 24, 2020 investigative report published by Politico (“Trump owes tens of millions to the Bank of China — and the loan is due soon”), financial records indicate that “...Trump himself is tens of millions of dollars in debt to China: In 2012, his real estate partner refinanced one of Trump’s most prized New York buildings for almost $1 billion.” This report also notes that President Trump’s debt “...includes $211 million from the state-owned Bank of China — its first loan of this kind in the U.S. — which matures in the middle of what could be Trump’s second term, financial records show.”

Duckworth continued, “The American people deserve to know whether the Trump administration’s failure to acquire, distribute and stockpile adequate supplies of PPE and other medical supplies at home, while shipping such supplies to China, are related to President Trump's personal indebtedness to the Bank of China and his fear of upsetting the PRC, which owns that bank.”

That makes a lot of sense, sent it to China for .00 to repay debts, got the return shipment paid for by US taxpayers then send it 3rd party for $$ for themselves and allowed (asked) the co. to bid up prices with the blue states to kill Dems. Wow, PUtin must have suggested it because these rich boy addled drug addicts would never be that smart on their own. They might manage a double cross on their own with a dose of murderousness, but for all out chaos, max killing and profiteering, PUtin is clearly their boss.

that we are getting numb to the numbers. Three months ago the thought of 50,000 Americans dying of a pandemic would have been horrifying. Now that it is a reality, the deaths are only important if it is someone you know or love. It is amazing how quickly we can be acclimatized to a disaster. When the numbers hit 75 or 100 thousand it will be less emotionally meaningful than when they hit 1,000; it will be just another blip in the news cycle.

We should have a national photo album with the faces of the dead posted, and all of those faces should have be viewed before policy decisions are made. Instead, we are making policy decisions that will double the numbers. It is less painful to lose strangers than money. It is all a part of Making America Great Again.

The purpose of the shutdown was to SLOW the spread, so hopefully hospitals could prepare, and spread out the capacity. It was never intended to end the spread.

Until a vaccine is in use, or so called herd immunity is realized, the virus will continue to spread.

Now the only question is if our hospitals can handle the new cases. The problem is that the vast majority of hospitals have low census, and are furloughing employees because they have so much capacity, waiting for the patients that haven’t yet arrived.
Obviously some hospitals and areas did become overwhelmed, but that was a minority of our Countries capacity.

Only time will tell what the correct path forward is.
