May not be something in Indiana but here in Florida it’s a common phrase that people snicker at. Won’t make a raise here at all. I know some want to but it won’t work. Tons of other stuff to get the creep on though.

It's a good place to be. It's a fairly progressive bastion in an otherwise pretty hardcore Republican state (our current Republican Governor, thankfully, doesn't seem like an idiot).

The state sure has some rightwingers but I have hope for the state due to voting for president Obama twice.

Unfortunately, since the 1990's the Democratic Party bench and apparatus here has shrunk over the years and Republicans still dominate with super majorities. I'm not sure how we pulled off going for Obama (once in 2008) but I'm sure that the Republicans have been working hard to make sure something that like THAT never happens again. Plus, the Republicans in the Legislature love to pick on and try to control Indianapolis/Marion County since it tends to be more progressive and Democratic-controlled. We have some other progressive pockets though, like Lake County (Northern Indiana), Monroe County (Bloomington). But then we have large affluent (i.e. Republican) areas like Hamilton County (Carmel, Fishers, Noblesville) and a lot of outlaying Red rural areas.

Anybody that listens to these two idiots puts their lives at risk, especially the one idiot who described his senior citizens in FL as sitting in the waiting room (of death). Disgusting. Quite a few of my friends in FL aren't too happy with their governor describing them in this manner. I suspect that he's lost the next election already.

<snip>
Gov. Ron DeSantis returns $50,000 in campaign cash from a pair of foreign-born South Florida businessmen who were buying pols with Russian cash

It’s good to see Florida’s self-professed swamp drainer, Gov. Ron DeSantis, has decided to give up some of that Russian “hoax” money that flowed into his campaign last year.

It was a creation of Delaware corporate paperwork magic that facilitated the transfer of money from an unnamed Russia oligarch into the coffers of Republican candidates across America, according to a federal indictment filed last week.

It was around the same time that DeSantis had sent out an election mailer promising to “drain the swamp in Tallahassee.”

Then a month later, he’s not blinking when he gets a gift of $50,000 from an imaginary company through its two principals, Lev Parnes and Igor Fruman, who appear to be sent by a casting agent looking to fill roles for Bond villains.

If this were the plot of a fictional movie, you might find it hard to believe that a former federal prosecutor who has met his fair share of white-collar scoundrels would be such an incurious pushover to Lev and Igor.
