Defeat the Right in Three Minutes: A Practical Guide to Understanding Conservative Politics
Have you got three minutes. Because that's all you need to learn how to defeat the Republican Right. Just read through this handy guide and you'll have everything you need to successfully debunk right-wing propaganda.
It's really that simple. First, you have to beat their ideology, which really isn't that difficult. At bottom, conservatives believe in a social hierarchy of "haves" and "have nots" that I call "corporate feudalism". They have taken this corrosive social vision and dressed it up with a "respectable" sounding ideology. That ideology is pure hogwash, and you can prove it.

(139 posts)Nice find, good frame. One nit is that it should be tied also to the "Republican brand". Just like "tax and spend Democrats/Liberals" I'm running with this and will report back. K&R. Please consider reposting if this doesnt get much traffic.

(9,256 posts)EVERY thing they do has an ultimate goal: cheap labor. More $$ for stockholders.
Im a retired payroll admin and saw this in action. The district laid off all the custodians and replaced them with outsourced labor. Previously, a school custodian (in PA) was a sought-after job. Pretty good pay (start around $18/hr with regular raises), excellent health insurance, a real pension. You werent getting rich but you could afford a modest house and raise your family in the district. Now the custodians are paid around $10/hr by Sodexo and all drive up from the city because they cant afford to live here. I dont know about their health insurance, but no pension. Instead of having custodians on the payroll, the district pays a huge management fee to Sodexo monthly, which includes the new custodians gross pay, and of course, management and consulting fees. That bill is about as much as they were paying the custodians including benefits. But instead of real people earning a living (and living and spending $$ in the community) now taxpayers $$ goes to management and Sodexo shareholders. Thats why they want to privatize everything - they cant wait for huge corporations to feed at the taxpayer trough. Makes my blood boil.

They got Darwin all wrong. Just like the Nazis.
Ask a trumper what it means and you will hear their ignorant misunderstanding.
Then ask them to explain Einstein.

(8,907 posts)We are supposed to be the most liberal state in the country, yet we are a "Right to Work" state.
What that means is that the employer can fire you without cause (for any reason),
and the employee can quit for any reason.
But what it really means, is that we are a "Right to Work for less" state.
You want a union? What a rabblerouser you are, you're fired.
You came to work 1 minute late? You're laid off in the next round of layoffs.
You work for $25 an hour? You're too expensive, we'll have to let you go, unless you except our reduced $15/hr. salary.
You're a tech worker making $100,000 a year?
We'll get the H1B program expanded to import more cheap labor and get 3 workers for the same amount.
It works at all salary levels.
See it all the time here in CA.

(41,103 posts)Films for Action. I'd seen their website a while back and forgot.
These documentaries are valuable educationally, a few years back I watched some of them on the Free Speech Channel and learned much, esp. as a film and movie lover.
> I'd like to post their link here, but can find a group for 'documentaries,' only movies, steaming, TV, etc. But I'll try to place it somewhere.
