(16,344 posts)Not for months after things open up, and Im in a state with a good governor that has made a pact with a bunch of surrounding states.
I see no reason to suddenly go shopping. Im going to continue my once a week curbside pickup for all goods.
Id be happy to give it a couple of months to see if CV19 cases spike again.
I have plenty of plans for when things open up and I feel confident that there is less risk. I just dont see that happening for at least a year.

(11,949 posts)Assuming the wife and I both get called back to our jobs we make very good money. Not quite executive good. But good. Now we are not working and have no clue when we will be called back.
We are great savers. But the problem is all of our savings are in Roth IRAs or 401k. We are ok thru July, but then I will have to find a way to make an income. Which when you have both been with the same company for well over 30 years is not easy. We will manage better than most. But this is hurting all Americans.
To answer your question as I think you intended. We will eat out way less. Im a very good cook. Even my wife agrees and she is not the doting kind! I didnt Marry to pump my ego! I fell for her because she is way smarter than me.
Ive spent the last several weeks making tons of homemade stock and working on sauces. Relearning my lessons of childhood in Louisiana in making cheap food taste like gourmet fare. Today we went fishing and caught nothing but what would be considered trash fish to todays tastes. A month ago I would have throw them back. But we turned it into a southern french style fish stew that was delicious. Im not the only one. Americans are relearning how to cook. And that may not be great for restaurants but is good for America.
Stay safe. And take care.

(100,133 posts)Also -- I'm kind of cured of clothes shopping. I looked at my closet and went -- meh, I seem to have enough now.
My husband's sartorial needs are another matter: he doesn't think he has any & will wear things till they fall apart. For many years I counted on Costco for shirts and slacks -- I'd bring them home and at my insistance he'd choose. But they changed suppliers in recent years, just when I needed to replace a bunch: one whole batch of dress shirts turned out to have no front pocket, and the next batch were of such thin fabric you could practically read a newspaper through them.
Not sure when I'll feel comfortable trying again.

(2,626 posts)Out for groceries once a week wearing a mask. Ever hopeful that one day I might see a package of toilet paper on a store shelf (it's been 7 weeks now without seeing a single roll in a public store)
The new hair clippers arrived yesterday which will take care of both my spouse's and my hair with a little practice
I'm a clay maker without a kiln because the co-op is closed but I've got 25 pounds of clay and lots of ideas. What I make now can sit on a shelf until I can fire it.
I'll continue to try new drink recipes for when it's 5:00 somewhere and enjoy other similar pastimes that make me smile regardless of what time it is.

But social distancing and practicing heightened hygiene. No more handshakes and hugs, though. At least through next Spring.
Too bad.
