So, as we will surely pass 60K deaths today, and it is still April,

and there were more than 2000 deaths yesterday, I guess we've turned the corner, can all emulate the CA and FL beach idiots, pull a Pence and toss the mask and all.

No worries. Trump and his cult deem this is done. Nothing. Thoughts and prayers. Nothing left to see here.

What the fuck is wrong with so many in our species?

They had the projections up to 73k. Which still seems like we will blow past it this month.

I don't blame them. They are just reading the tea leaves. It isn't their fault that our leaves are of the tea party variety.

...states reopening, more than anything else. A guy from IHME was on CNN yesterday. This is what he called the reason "primarily" they raised the estimate.
While that makes sense, it's still far underestimating the toll.
It was 66k before yesterday.
That left them with a delta of 7,500 over another 14 weeks. That's 80 per day. We're at nearly 3,000 per day now.
There's still something wrong with the model, even with the early reopening adjustment.
The upper range is around 120,000. The regular reporting the best case scenario is foolish, because it's not going to happen.

and the administration immediately glomed onto those numbers to tout a rosy picture.

When things like obesity and high blood pressure are included. We have plenty of those in America.

It is a result of our productive agriculture and mass production of poultry & red meet.
Americans spend less on food as a percentage of income than other countries.
No wonder obesity is a huge problem in America, and obesity causes a myriad of other maladies.

4. I am beginning to believe there are two different species, at least, here.

Were there two different species that coexisted as one was killing itself off and the next was starting to evolve? Maybe that is what is happening here, except the stupider part of the species is spreading this crap and trying to kill the part of the species that is evolving, because they want to hide evidence of evolution....

I definitely feel like I am not part of a large portion of the human species. There is just something fundamentally wrong with that other part of the human species.
