My grocery store trips are something between Thunderdome and Guy's Grocery Games. The one thing I do know is that no one spends more time in the produce section than me, well, except for the guys stocking the shelf. And this is because I go into the store with a list of ingredients to match wholesome recipes. My objective is food planning for two weeks. So, in that time, I'll know what customers are going to be in there that are going to eventually create a coronavirus faux pas.
First up was a father and son. They walked in as I finished the produce section. They had no mask, and they made it sound like they were going in for a quick pick up for mom. For some reason, I saw them at least three times as I walked the aisles, which was maybe an hour worth of shopping. Maybe there were coming back for something they missed, because I never saw them with a cart. In every instance, they seemed unconcerned about the space issue. Most people at least look uncomfortable when they pass by you, or walk by quickly. These guys didn't. And the best was saved for the last.
I was at the check out when they walked out. The dad was about fifteen feet away, and sure enough, he sneezes. He tries to sneeze downward, but he sneezes. No mask.
While I was in line there was something strange going on behind me. I had two weeks worth of groceries, so I was going to be there for some time. Most people were smart enough to move to another line. Except for this one guy. He stood there with two items in his hands. No mask and his shirt was a professional shirt with the letters M.D. stitched in. I wondered why he just didn't move to another line. Maybe he was curious enough to see what was in my grocery cart. I don't know, but sure enough, before I was finished he had a coughing fit.
I texted my husband: Code Red: I'm coming in hot.

(296 posts)Don't laugh--I've "mellowed" the worst of big farm dogs--harmless. (except one VERY large St. Bernard--owner bred these dogs along with dairy farm--Pappa D as he was called seemed to like it--would always come to truck WAITING for his spray--wonder over to lawn--and lay on his back for hours )

(10,103 posts)Certainly nothing close to 100%, but maybe 50% and climbing. I stopped at the store today after going to the clinic to have some labs taken. When I got to the clinic they had a desk right at the front door and issued you a mask. I had my own but I had to put theirs on before going in. The grocery now has one way aisles laid out which isnt a bad idea.
