Why aren't the flags at half staff?

They were flown at half staff when Sonny Bono died. Why, with over 60,000 dead, are they at full staff now FFS? Congress should take this step, Drumpf never will. Repukes could not vote against such a measure IMHO.

The people making that decision don't care about 60k people dead.
That's pretty obvious and I think we've concluded that long ago!

Drumpf cares not a wit about anyone but himself. The only way Republicans could vote against such a bill would be to wrap themselves in the flag, that is getting really old and is no longer credible. Soon everyone will know somebody who died from this plague and a vote against some form of recognition will be a horrible stain on the record of anyone who votes against it.

Repukes the appearance of a semblance of compassion. Or, they can get all ballsy and flag-waving, which will only sell to the Trumpist minority.

I just don't have confidence they'll do it.
BTW: went to big box store in the town 18 miles west today.
The outdoors & garden store across the highway has one of those huge flags in front.
It was at half-mast! The store decided for themselves, I guess.

The President can order the flag to fly at half staff by Proclamation, as may state and territorial governors, as well as the mayor of Washington DC. Congress is not mentioned. They could pass a resolution conveying the sense of Congress that the president do so.

The Democrat governors should get together and all do it at the same time. Draw a contrast on valuing the lives of Americans.

Trump had to be shamed into lowering the flag for John McCain.

Twenty people died at a Wal-Mart in El Paso, Texas, but Trump went golfing. Finally, later 7in the day, someone must have cajoled Trump into lowering the flag.

If he lowers the flag to honor the victims of the corona virus, it would look like an indictment of his incompetent response.

This fucker thinks he can move on as if nothing happened - as if his response was a massive success.
There is no moving on after 61,000 plus deaths and over 1,000,000 people are suffering from this virus.
