Yes, thats right. In just another twist from the You-Cant-Make-This-Sh*t-Up, 2020 Edition, late last night it was discovered that Tara Reades late father, Robert Moulton, wrote a novel in 2010 1998. Moultons obituary can be found here:
The novel, Loss, listed on Amazon and Google Books contains a scene, which bears uncanny similarity to her allegation against Joe Biden:
After several weeks of flirting with him she spent the night in his room on Bleeker Street next door to the Russian strip joint... actually I will stop there as the scene gets pretty adult and would not be appropriate for a diary IMO. You can see the highlighted text at this twitter thread for more info.
Major media has practically run away from giving these allegations air time and its clear why: every time someone does some digging, her story falls apart. Nevertheless toxic elements in our party have continued to try and breathe life into this disaster of a story. Following the same pattern as the mental decline narrative which went from Biden has dementia, to well maybe not dementia but hes old/frail/somethings not right, to people are talking about it, so maybe theres something there, to it may not be true but he should just address it, the Reade narrative is playing out just the same way.

(35,300 posts)They've also reported Biden's side. And word is the NYT edited an article when Biden's staff objected--meaning they got to review it.
As for the novel's relevance, the poster has to show one more thing.
The novel was published in '98. Her allegation apparently is dated to '93. If he wrote it after the allegation, his novel reflects her story. If her story postdates when he wrote the novel, her story mimics the novel.
The assumption is that her story must be patterned after her father's novel. It's a nice assumption, but I don't think I'd bid more than a few cents for it on Ebay--and I'd expect free shipping. And assumptions, last I heard, make really bad facts.

(15,325 posts)Let's see who still supports Reade now that the actual truth is being told.
Same ones who desperately needed to swiftboat Hillary in 2016.
Where'd her story accusing Biden originate? Anyone know?

(34,857 posts)The internet was in its infancy still. Most people weren't online back when he was running. There was no social media. Cable news was just CNN - so, no FOX.
Talk radio was there. And it was toxic as fuck. But it still only reached a smidgen of people compared to social media + the net does today.
It's so much easier to get an accusation out there, to lie completely, and have someone share it with thousands, and then millions, of people than it was back in the 90s.
Fake News IS a thing. I really hate that Trump corrupted the term because it does exist. And it's likely being used against Biden.

(432 posts)27 years later. The VP years. The primaries. And now that the primaries door has closed and the Ukraine BS failed, we get this flimsy stunt.
Do people understand critical thinking? Or even the depth of republican dirty tricks?

(15,325 posts)If their m.o. hadn't been so overused in the past & Joe hadn't been already been so well known & admired, & vetted & re-vetted for Senate & VP over the course of many years, this may have worked again.
But this time around, the politically motivated character assassination of Joe Biden falls flat.
The source has discredited itself in such glaring ways that the doubt is left lying with the source.
