Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden plans to announce the members of the committee that will help him select his vice presidential running mate by May 1, but voters are already weighing in with their perspective.
New polling by YouGov and The Economist, which was conducted from April 26 to 28, found that Democratic voters are split between several potential vice presidential candidates. However, progressive Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, who previously was running for the Democratic presidential nomination, leads the pack with more than a quarter of Democratic voters seeing her as the best choice for Biden.
Warren was backed by 26 percent of Democratic respondents, while Biden's other former rival for the Democratic nomination, Senator Kamala Harris of California, came in second with support from 18 percent of the party's voters. Stacey Abrams, who ran unsuccessfully to become Georgia's governor in 2018, came in third with 12 percent, and Senator Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, who also previously sought the Democratic presidential nomination, came in fourth with 11 percent.
Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer was backed by 3 percent of Democratic voters, while Senator Tammy Baldwin of Wisconsin was supported by 2 percent. All of the lawmakers included in the poll have endorsed Biden and have been widely speculated to be under consideration to join the former vice president's ticket. Biden has previously committed to selecting a woman to be his running mate.

(11,451 posts)but they would make a good contrast. If he is looking for someone that fights for his policies though she is a lot more progressive.

(28,817 posts)I want no one who had any part in the railroading of Al Franken.
That would leave Amy Klobuchar as the only possibility for me.
I love Amy, I just find it easier to say no primary VP.
Edit to add: I dont want to give ammunition against Joe that one of his primary rivals brought to the campaign.

(10,143 posts)She's been at odds with Joe on too many occasions. I don't think their differences can be papered over.

(9,352 posts)As a senator, we lose that seat with Republican Governor of Massachusetts.
Hurts me no end.
Guess we have to turn the senate without her!

(2,810 posts)She is brilliant and funny. She is from a blue state so the Senate seat is safe. OTOH, there has been talk about Duckworth, and she is pretty amazing. Also, she is from a blue state, again her seat is safe. Warren was my first pick for President, but she and Biden are both from the East. That wont work. Then there is Stacey. I think she is awesome, but I worry there isnt enough experience. She will ultimately go places, regardless. I think Klobuchar is a safe middle road pick, which is why I wouldnt pick her. We need to move a bit left.
