Joe Biden making accountability great again

Biden writes on Medium, May 1:

___While the details of these allegations of sexual harassment and sexual assault are complicated, two things are not complicated. One is that women deserve to be treated with dignity and respect, and when they step forward they should be heard, not silenced. The second is that their stories should be subject to appropriate inquiry and scrutiny.

Responsible news organizations should examine and evaluate the full and growing record of inconsistencies in her story, which has changed repeatedly in both small and big ways.

But this much bears emphasizing.

She has said she raised some of these issues with her supervisor and senior staffers from my office at the time. They — both men and a woman — have said, unequivocally, that she never came to them and complained or raised issues. News organizations that have talked with literally dozens of former staffers have not found one — not one — who corroborated her allegations in any way. Indeed, many of them spoke to the culture of an office that would not have tolerated harassment in any way — as indeed I would not have.

There is a clear, critical part of this story that can be verified. The former staffer has said she filed a complaint back in 1993. But she does not have a record of this alleged complaint. The papers from my Senate years that I donated to the University of Delaware do not contain personnel files. It is the practice of Senators to establish a library of personal papers that document their public record: speeches, policy proposals, positions taken, and the writing of bills.

There is only one place a complaint of this kind could be — the National Archives. The National Archives is where the records are kept at what was then called the Office of Fair Employment Practices. I am requesting that the Secretary of the Senate ask the Archives to identify any record of the complaint she alleges she filed and make available to the press any such document. If there was ever any such complaint, the record will be there.

As a Presidential candidate, I’m accountable to the American people. We have lived long enough with a President who doesn’t think he is accountable to anyone, and takes responsibility for nothing. That’s not me. I believe being accountable means having the difficult conversations, even when they are uncomfortable. People need to hear the truth.

(...forget the Morning Joke. Even on this personal accusation, Joe Biden is leading us by his own outstanding example. This is what we desperately need in our new president.)

VP Biden did not put blame on others. He did not call it "fake news".

I stand with VP Joe Biden.

does not reflect well on you. I pretty much watch MJ every morning but no more. I have not forgotten the free airtime you gave Trump everyday in 16 -you helped elect him. And now you dare to talk to our nominee and former Vice President in such a rude, hostile manner...well lets just say you along with Chris Hayes are dead to me.Thousands are dead thanks to Trump whom you and Joe helped elect. There will be no repeat performance.

I turned off the tv and won't be back for a long time. And I was an every morning recorder. I gave her a bit of room when she went over and over with the U of Del papers but the final words proved this is the path they'll take from here on. Did he say there are 1800 boxes of his papers? Some may be digital but many probably aren't. So someone is going to scan those papers, then do a search? This is all about trying to find a damaging quote or position, just to take the election. I've had enough.

"Many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on our own point of view."

Joe not only invited an investigation, he told them where to go look for the TRUTH.

We will never get this from Trump.

case. Rump is even on record paying a victim off $130K), our friend Stromy Daniels.

What I still would like to know is how many total victims did Donald trump sexually abuse? How many were underage? We know of 20+ victims so far, and hear of underage victims all of the time. Perhaps there is truth to those stories? Who in a normal world, have an agreement w/ the National Enquirer of all gossip rags, to bait and catch potential 'negative' stories about Donald trump, and keep them from being published?

After all, we do have physical evidence that rump has abused ($130,000 pieces of evidence).

We even have Donald trump's locker room talk (I'd prefer trash room talk) on the Access America bus recorded, lending quite a valid look to all of the claims of those that have been abused.

Nothing, absolutely nothing, ever, ever, ever has been ever mentioned about Biden ever attacking a victim sexually nor could I visualize such a thing from ever happened. Especially as much in the public limelight that Biden has been in so far (his whole life), as much as he's been a VP under Obama, you would think the despicable republicans would stop at nothing to pin dirt on Biden. Like they are trying to do now.

I stand strong for Biden, and support his innocence. The evidence is overwhelming that Donald J. Trump has sexually abused women. And apparently numerous times.

Shows he is not worried.

He is treating his accuser with respect and standing up for himself. It's a fine line and I think he's managed it quite well.

Would that the media give even half this scrutiny to each of Trump's accusers.

He was in a tough situation in light of his prior statements about believing women, which were over the top IMO.

I do think he missed an opportunity, when pressed about the University of Delaware archives, to contrast his transparency with Trump and remind everyone of everything Trump has refused to release.
