She's a nurse practitioner at a huge teaching hospital.
Her boyfriend who is 61 has been furloughed for 3 weeks and thinks his job is on jeopardy.
All of my other customers are either laid off or working from home..
My gut feeling is that this is going to get a lot worse.

(32,607 posts)She is on furlough. She has three children and is glad to be at home. She is ok financially because her husband and family are farmers.

I have been reading that a lot of health care workers are getting laid off. A lot of people are afraid to go to hospitals now so anything that isn't urgent is being put off.
I think some if these big companies are using this is as an excuse to slim down bloated work forces. Force older people out.

(7,500 posts)as a Covid 19 response. My local hotspot laid off many from the ortho floor as knees hips and shoulders aren't being done.

I was at HYVEE grocery store to pick up laundry this morning. It was busy but i didn't see anyone without a mask .
They were sanitizing carts and limiting the number of people inside. Still makes me nervous.
