What is the miscarriage of justice? Lawyers try to trap people in lies every time they question a witness. It's not their fault if a person is stupid enough to lie.

That is a National Security risk. I expect a higher standard of conduct and if he is trapped in a lie - and he did plead guilty to it - then so be it.

(24,412 posts)You can only perjure yourself if you, you know, lie. I have a feeling that what this is, is Barr/Trump pulling out some internal document that outlines something typical and/or routine for law enforcement personnel and presenting it as a sign of something more nefarious (presented entirely outside of context), which the average person not connected to law enforcement wouldn't be able to recognize as typical and/or routine or harmless.

(82,849 posts)It was posted on Daily Kos. Some boilerplate nonsense about being guilty and understanding that by signing, Flynn was admitting to doing the crime and preparing to do the time. But the signature! Anyone could tell at a glance that Flynn signed the plea agreement sarcastically!
Not to mention that Trump has forgotten all about how "outraged" he was that Flynn lied to Pence. Any good businessman knows you don't stay mad at someone forever. How else are you going to sucker them in later when you can really give 'em the shaft?

No one beat him up and made him lie. He chose to do that, then-- Trump and Pence want everyone to forget -- then he lied to Pence, which is why he was fired, supposedly.
