A heads up on what's going on in Michigan.

Mrs. Gibraltar just told me the mayor of our little hotspot has stated on his facebook page that the city will open up for business tomorrow. We have 17 dead in county. It is obvious he has told businesses that there will be no local enforcement. I just sent AG an e mail. I am afraid these scofflaws are going to make our sacrifices all in vain.

Unfortunately, too many people are caught in a trap: If their state ends the lockdown, their employer is back into business as usual. If a worker doesn't go in, the state will call that quitting or refusing to work, and the worker isn't eligible for unemployment benefits. Mitch McConnell and his Republican pals in the Senate are busy right now trying to keep employers immune from lawsuits if they force their workers back on the job and they get real sick or die or something.

Employers are similarly caught: If they don't open back up when the state says it's okay, they will lose their eligibility for relief.

I don't know what the answer is (besides not electing Republicans to run things anymore), but maybe if a huge majority of businesses and workers opt out, states will have to ignore the yammering minority and just stay on lockdown.

They can't go back to work and leave a second-grader home alone trying to do online school.

A good reason to wait until school is over in June to force people back to work.

We're staying in lockdown until the numbers look significantly better than they do now. And even then, we'll be social distancing until there's a vaccine and/or effective treatment.

I'm boycotting any business that's rushing to reopen and failing to protect its employees, starting with my old hair salon. Screw those guys.

The cops are part of the problem. Only state police could enforce.

11. 17 deaths for 125 confirmed cases seems like a very high %age of deaths.

First was on 3/30, a month ago.

11 were in one cluster.

What's really at question is how the remaining 5 deaths patterned--a cluster or distributed, recent or not.

That, and how the cases pattern in space and time. If the cases were all IDed in one area, or a month ago, that's once thing; if widely distributed last week, quite another.

National Park was closed - but I read that Doofus was going to reopen the parks, and I fear my little town in the Smokies will be bombarded soon.

May the people have better sense - for both our sakes...

That was an ugly scene at Lansing yesterday. My fear is that all we've sacrificed will be for nothing if they start things up too soon.

If they don’t like it, lay me off...my health is more important than a replaceable job.

Gov Whitmer should send the NG into Hillsdale.

It’s all fun and games for these MAGAts until the black helicopters show up.
