(32,802 posts)An estimated 300 to 400 doctors kill themselves each year, a rate of 28 to 40 per 100,000 or more than double that of general population.

(3,557 posts)Im not a police officer or firefighter, but I dealt with some similar things when I was in Iraq. Anything dealing with children is utterly terrible.
I have two daughters myself (9 and 11) and at times seeing them reminds of stuff from Iraq. I couldnt imagine anything like I saw happening to kids in Iraq happening to my children.
Ive dealt with a few suicide attempts a couple of years ago. Years of very regular treatment have really changed the way I look at life. Through the right balance of medication and regular psychology appointments, Im finally able to enjoy life again and be hopeful and excited about my future.
First responders that deal with this stuff for years on end have my utmost respect and admiration. I only dealt with it for 13 months and it totally burned me out. Your perseverance says a lot about who you are.
