https://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/ny-nursing-home-reports-98-deaths-linked-coronavirus-70465506Its absolutely horrifying, Mayor Bill de Blasio said. Its inestimable loss, and its just impossible to imagine so many people lost in one place.
It is hard to say whether the spate of deaths at the Isabella Geriatric Center, in Manhattan, is the worst nursing home outbreak yet in the U.S., because even within the city facilities have chosen to report fatalities in different ways. A state tally of nursing home deaths released Friday listed only 13 at the home.

(3,379 posts)Longterm care centers account for the majority of my county's death in recent weeks. The figure is over 60%. I think the majority of our positive cases are within LTC and correctional facilities. We have a website here where you can view active dispatch calls. 9 times out of 10, the calls for "respiratory emergency" or "fever" are at an LTC. It's utterly heartbreaking.
Of course, the Flu Klux Klan warriors in my county are demanding a full reopening because the majority of cases and deaths now occur among these LTC or correctional facilities. They lack the critical thinking regarding the fact that staff of these places interact with the community, go shopping, go home, etc., and can still carry the virus. Some of the folks in correctional facilities are in work release programs. They're not isolated. Yet, these geniuses cry about the Bill of Rights and liberty, waving their misappropriated Gadsden flags, demanding haircuts and trips to Red Lobster.
