(34,367 posts)A California city official said COVID-19 should be allowed to run its course, killing elderly and homeless residents to fix what is a significant burden on our society.
Now his public position could be a pandemic-era casualty, and hes calling that a violation of his rights.
Ken Turnage, a member of the city planning commission in Antioch, said in a now-deleted April 23 Facebook post that coronavirus lockdowns should be lifted to let nature take its course.
We would have significant loss of life, we would lose many elderly, that would reduce burdens in our defunct Social Security System, health care cost once the wave subsided make jobs available for others and it would also free up housing in which we are in dire need of, Turnage 47, wrote, according to the East Bay Times.

(6,407 posts)I have said for a while that this attitude underlies many of their policies. Starve the poor, let the old and the sick die off, let the prisoners and the minorities weaken and die, no immigrants allowed in without significant money: essentially cull the herd. This is where they sound a lot like Nazis. Be robust and healthy, with no deformities, and of the preferred race, or be killed (even passively if not directly).
Instead of helping the weak, as is put forth in the scripture they claim to love, it is more about demonizing the weak as an unnecessary burden. Remember Romney's 47% speech. That was about the 47% who need government help and so must be weak, lazy and sponging off the rest of us. Remember the GOP health care plan when they tried to destroy Obamacare: don't get sick, but if you do, die quickly.

(5,721 posts)...the people who talk like that aren't exactly paragons of Aryan perfection themselves; they're just "fortunate" at that moment in time. When they're facing the other end of the stick, they drop to their knees and wail for the mercy they would never show anyone else.

(63,221 posts)Look at many of them. In congress, they are mostly old geezers, grossly overweight or apparent alcoholics. Trump is an obese, elderly drug addict in poor health. Look at Trump's base. Have you ever seen a less healthy looking crowd of people in your life? These people are under the impression they are the "Master Race" simply by virtue of the fact that they are white. They don't realize how vulnerable they are.

(5,721 posts)He's no spring chicken.
He's screwed his business with his callousness, so his financial future is not great.
Once I would have said, "I hope he appreciates the irony"...but instead I just wait for him to pop up again rattling his tin cup and wailing that he's the victim of forces beyond his control.

From a 'saving the planet' standpoint, there ARE way too many human, and we are destroying the natural world due to our numbers.
In purely cold scientific terms, we are, as a society, keeping many, many people alive who would not survive if humans were living in a manner more congruous with nature.
A scientist saying something like this might be a logical solution to climate change and environmental destruction, in their professional capacity, I wouldn't come apart over it, put it like that.
However, if some yahoo who calls themselves a 'Christian', who thinks Gawd created the planet, hates abortion, disbelieves science and evolution generally ... but proposes these sorts of eugenics-based ideas on the grounds of 'economic burden' (especially anyone who goes out of their way to include the homeless) and that sort of thing ... well fck those people.
They're really saying it out of hate, not out of a heartfelt feeling of sympathy for our animal brethren on our planet, who's habitat we are ruthlessly destroying.
Nazis, basically.

These people disgust me and the sooner we are rid of them the better!

the Actions of Others against him are not protected. Here's an opinion, others who have
the opinion of advocating murder are imprisoned and let's do the same to him.
