Bill Gates calls America's Coronavirus Testing Data "Bogus"

Appearing on CNN Thursday, Bill Gates called America's coronavirus testing data "bogus," in part because "the United States does not make sure you get results in 24 hours."

Testing in the U.S. remains a long and complicated task, and it can take several days before people are told whether they have tested positive or negative for COVID-19.

"If you get your test results within 24 hours so you can act on it, then let's count it," Gates said, adding that people were most infectious within the first three to four days after infection and might continue to interact with others and spread the virus until they have definitive results. "What's the point of the test?" he said. "That's your period of greatest infectiousness."

Gates added that residents of low-income neighborhoods had lesser access to testing facilities and were not prioritized, despite indications that the virus has taken a disproportionate toll on marginalized communities.

"Our system fails to have the prioritization that would give us an accurate picture of what's going on," he said.

While America is now testing about 200,000 people a day, the [Business Insider] article cites experts from Harvard University who believe 20 million tests a day are what's needed to fully "remobilize the economy."

Gates told The Financial Times that his foundation, which has an endowment of more than $40 billion (AUD$62b), was prepared to put all of its resources toward fighting the virus, even if it meant efforts to combat other deadly diseases would suffer as a result.

coronavirus vaccine research.

What the country actually knows, and what you think it knows, can be overstated, since it's an ongoing point of media these days, just how oblivious and dumb a sizable minority of Americans can be.

They're impressed by the rich guy in the WH; so let them be impressed with a rich guy that actually works in coronavirus research and who's the source of most of this govt's computer operating systems.

He is the guy pushing the vaccine that they think (erroneously) has the microchip in it that will contain the mark of the beast.

I'm not disagreeing with the article, your OP or his statement, just saying that he was stating the obvious for anyone with half a brain. I will grant you that the majority of dump supporters do not have half a brain and they need to hear this message, however, my thoughts on that point are that the average dump supporter will simply plug their ears and go " la la la la, I can't hear you"

As for Bill Gates being rich, they don't listen to dump because he is rich, they listen to him because he is a racist pig like themselves. At least that is my opinion.

My apologies if I came off harsh with the title of my first response, that was not my intention.

I totally agree on why they listen to Trump and probably won't with Gates. Still, there's a sizable responsible majority of Americans who need to keep hearing that they're on the right side of the CV issues and that someone Trump won't mess with is criticizing Trump's criminal neglect of this pandemic.

You came off harsh? I didn't notice. Thanks for your posts.

Tiny ticks down on approval. And he had to fuck it up and say some really stupid stuff about injecting bleach. Got his feelings hurt from the ridicule and stopped briefings. Telling that it was not just him who went into hiding, but the medical experts as well, depriving the American public of important information.

If we had been smarter we would have brushed it off as brainstorming (wink wink)....just to have him on every day to whiddle his ratings down.

I know it is bad for me to say I miss his briefings, they were a gold mine for advertising come this fall.

Well, at least we have a lot of material to still pick from for the political ads, I truly hope they go as brutal as possible.

This election should be a no holds barred affair. We should pull out all the stops and hit him in his fragile little ego. If we do it properly he will have to debate Joe in order to try and reclaim his tiny crown and that will be a beautiful thing to see, as I feel, Joe could eviscerate him.

I know we don't like to go low, but I think it is time we took off the gloves and start punching back.

and bullshit projections are posted every day, and people are tweeting and posting and fb'ing the numbers. Arguments on DU about certain trackers... None of the trackers are legit because there's not enough fucking testing. There's screwing around with the cause of death numbers. There's screwing around with the numbers of at home deaths, nursing home deaths... And, I'm tired of someone popping in with the bullshit 'they're reporting them now', it depends on who's in charge and in what state, in what county. There are bodies piled high in morgues, closets, U-hauls... But let's open up, the phony trackers have us at less than 100,000 by August, so, I guess that's not too bad. Put on those rose colored glasses and get your asses to work.

I stopped looking at trackers for a while now. DU keeps me up to date on what those fake numbers are anyways.

The answer is for people to self-quarantine until they get the results of the test. If people aren't being told to do that, that doesn't make the test useless, it makes the protocol useless.

Lock him up.

21. A lot of people when being told to self-quarantine don't do that.
Sat May 2, 2020, 06:27 PM
May 2020

And no matter how many times they are told to do that, they won't do that, sometimes for reasons out of their control:

1- Many don't live in surroundings that allow them to live in "total" confinement.
2- Many don't have the money required to go live in a hotel room with food delivery.
3- Many don't have a mobile phone to get their food delivered to them when they're hungry.
4- Many who have lost their job don't have the money to get food from restaurants take outs.

There are as many reasons as there are people who will not self-quarantine no matter how many times they'd be told to.

That's the reality of it.

"Melinda Gates is co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Along with Bill, she shapes and approves the foundation’s strategies, reviews results, and sets the overall direction of the organization. Together, they meet with grantees and partners to further the foundation’s goal of improving equity in the United States and around the world.

Through her work at the foundation over the last fifteen years, Melinda has seen first-hand that empowering women and girls can bring transformational improvements in the health and prosperity of families, communities, and societies. In 2012, Melinda spearheaded the London Summit on Family Planning, which adopted the goal of delivering contraceptives to an additional 120 million women in developing countries by 2020. Her work has led her to increasingly focus on gender equity as a path to meaningful change.

The second of four children, Melinda grew up in Dallas, Texas. She received a bachelor’s degree in computer science and economics from Duke University in 1986 and a master’s in business administration from the Fuqua School of Business in 1987.

After joining Microsoft Corporation that year, she distinguished herself as a leader in the development of multimedia products and was later appointed Microsoft’s general manager of Information Products. In 1996, Melinda left Microsoft to focus on her philanthropic work and family.

Melinda lives with her husband and three children in Seattle, Washington."
