He encouraged everyone to bring their favorite spirits to the hospice... He was too ill to partake, but I'm sure he was joyous that his friends weren't.
His obit actually helped alieve a great deal of the pain that resulted from his passing. Dave, more than anyone, would've LOVED it!! 
I wasn't going to go that far.
Dave seems like he would have been ok.

I'm sorry for your loss, but I'm glad that good fun people are in the world, even if too briefly...
Besides being a beer fan, his sound system was very top-notch!
I also lost my husband way too soon, and he had the same sense of grabbing life with both hands, holding on, and enjoying it. There's no doubt he slid into the next stage sideways, saying "Wow, what a ride!" I'll leave you with this...it brought me great comfort at the time, and still does.

I see that Dave is just a few years younger than me. He may not have had a lot of years in his life, but it looks like he had a lot of life in his years.
And if your obit can bring a smile to people's faces, then you have done a good job!
