(6,793 posts)My rural area in Northern California is doing just fine. Some wear masks, some dont. Have not seen or heard of any mask harassment.

(14,853 posts)I feel its coming based on sneers from non-wearers.
Edit: Ive BARELY been out the last few weeks, though. If I was regularly dealing with other people, I bet it wouldve happened by now.

(7,638 posts)To measure social distancing. If your withing my reach with a baseball bat extended you're too damn close.
But I'm 6'2" and 240 pounds. Eventually some dumbass may, but it hasn't happened yet.

(14,853 posts)I went to the Sugar Bowl to see Ohio State play Alabama a few years ago, and I felt like a giant compared to the Alabama fans. A large number of them had black hair too, which would also be unusual around here.
Edit: I was anticipating a bunch of Big Bubbas, but nope.
Edit #2: Well, this surprises me! Alabama supposedly has some of the tallest men in America, on average.

I had the same giant feeling when I went to some Reds games, so theres probably pockets of differences around the country.

(10,798 posts)But I do seem to be a little bigger than most on average around here (Florida). And by no means have I personally witnessed the type of behavior mentioned above to anyone else. Just figured it might be a slight deterrent.

(24,454 posts)There were very few wearing masks around here at that time. I think they probably thought I had the virus...why else wear a mask? Now, there seem to be a lot more wearing masks, at least 50%, maybe more. Those that aren't don't seem to care.

I started wearing a mask in mid-March, sooner than most people. Guy laughed at me and said something along the lines of "afraid of the lettuce, Lone Ranger lady?"
Ignored him. But keep on smoking dude, wherever you are. We're in one of the deadliest states right now.

(86,534 posts)at the mask but I don't give a fuck about what other people think about my manner of protecting myself. They can make their own choices, I've made mine. If someone were so foolish as to try and tear a mask off my face, they will probably wake up in an ambulance or an ICU.

(8,168 posts)...as he walked by me and a friend at the park. The person I was with was sitting ~10 feet from me. We had masks, though we didn't wear them 100% of the time due to the distances between people at the park. Fairly certain it was us he was talking about because he got all weird when we passed him and his girlfriend whilst walking on the walking path. 1st time I've seen any weird behavior Re: distancing and masks.

My area of Connecticut is pink/purple politically - when my town voted Obama in 2008, it was the first Democrat for president supported since I think LBJ in 1964. It swung back to Romney in 2012 and then Clinton in 2016.
