Like the old video game Pac-Man, we're maneuvering thru the grocery store isles trying to maintain social distancing, being considerate, detouring when necessary... then here comes one of The Unmasked! We try to avoid letting these dangerous and unpredictable threats get close, and the pressure is off only when we get safely out of the store - without encountering The Unmasked or letting them sneeze on us!

(31,798 posts)Sometimes I see those markings on the floor and think they are a super boost. Next time you encounter one - run away throwing cans of soup at them.

(66,307 posts)I'm starting to really hate anti-maskers. They join anti-vaxxers in my journal of predicted reasons why the human race became extinct.

(13,357 posts)Also, I am getting my spring allergies and had a total phelgm-attack in the store with my mask on...it was horrible. No way to stop and blow my nose or try and get it out...just had to try and keep myself under control until I could get back to the car and hack it all up...gross...

(4,613 posts)and don't plan to for the foreseeable future. My closest grocery store has its own delivery service and I haven't had an issue scheduling a delivery within a few days of placing an order. Sure, sometimes an item or 2 isn't immediately available, but I can usually keep trying for that item and it will eventually be available.

Not touching produce that I'm not buying is tougher than I thought, but has really driven home to me how many people may have touched that cucumber before I bought it.
But, I've only been shopping twice since March 7.

(60,334 posts)About all the ignorant people. The store had markings on the floor directing people so you were not meeting others.
No one was following and two thirds had no masks.

(8,052 posts)behind him, no mask on that dipshit of course. Thank goodness we were in the garden center and not inside, but still, I left the line rather than stand and breathe his wafting droplets, but my poor husband stayed because he had already waited 15 minutes to get to the register and wasn't about to let the unmasked sneezing douche waste more of our time. I really, really hate going into stores now, just in the course of two weeks the percentage of people wearing masks is going down dramatically.

(14,853 posts)Too many people not wearing masks in that store, like almost all of them the last couple times that I actually went inside.
Saw some sneers from men, whereas some women acted like I must be infected and they quickly moved away (which worked for me).

(18,672 posts)And goes grocery shopping for my grandma so she's safe, and always wears a mask, maintains social distancing. The other day, an unmasked checker sneezed all over him. I'm fucking furious.

(8,052 posts)only makes me breathe harder and probably negates any benefit from my cheesy homemade no-sew improvised mask. Speaking of which, I went to amazon and ordered a box of medical-looking disposable masks, because I estimate that's what at least half of the mask wearers in the stores are wearing. I thought we weren't supposed to wear those, and save them for first responders, but now I realize nobody else seems to give a shit, so I placed my order. Maybe the ones you can buy at Walmart and amazon aren't "real" or quality, but at least I won't look as ridiculous as I do with my cut-up shirts and hair bands.

(20,571 posts)are revealing themselves as careless people. I imagine they are also careless in their businesses and homes. It is now a political statement being made by guys in the trades - no mask and you're a wimp if you do wear a mask.
Saw a guy in the parking lot though, putting a mask on his daughter who was about 4 years old. I think he loves her or something.
