White House signals a pause on coronavirus aid, even as the economic situation becomes more urgent

The White House would like to put a pause on a fourth coronavirus spending package. But can the country really afford to?

In an appearance on CNN’s State of the Union with Jake Tapper on Sunday, White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow said the Trump administration is taking a wait-and-see approach on providing more federal support for Americans as the United States continues to weather the coronavirus crisis and the accompanying economic downturn.

“Well, I don’t want to get too far ahead of the story, Jake,” Kudlow said. “There may well be additional legislation. There’s a kind of pause period right now. You know, we have put up $3 trillion of direct federal budget assistance in one way or another; the Federal Reserve has actually put in as much $4 to $6 trillion. So it’s a huge, huge package.”

The former CNBC host told Tapper the White House wants to see what happens “as we gradually open the economy” — a move more than two dozen states are making or are about to make — and the administration will “probably have some ideas.” But the administration isn’t champing at the bit to provide more help. “We will see in a couple of weeks, Jake, what needs to be done and perhaps how to do it,” Kudlow said.

"There'll be further aid, Jake"
Kudlow has never predicted anything correctly, & in an election year, failing to provide help is a political handgrenade.. They'll cave.

This administration is simply put the least capable, least qualified and least adept in the history of governance, period. That includes the first halting attempts at clan leadership in stories like "Clan of the Cave Bear"... even savages clubbing women and making claims to 'leadership' through 'might-makes-right' philosophy and random murders were better suited to leadership than our current lot.

The reality is distinct from the desires of our infant imbecile leader. He is incapable of accepting the immutable fact that he is a life-long screw-up, con-man and failure, who has simply continued doing what he ALWAYS does - take bad situations and make them into modern re-tellings of Greek Tragedies. As a result of his malignant narcissism and utter lack of empathy, he simply fires any and all who dare to disagree with him - no matter how colossally stupid he acts. He not only is incapable of lover or feelings for those outside his direct family line, he is intentionally shielded from reality to avoid his temper tantrums and fits. He is the world's only septuagenarian toddler.

The problems we will be facing in about the next 30-60 days are going to make the last 60 days (it really has been only that long since this thing exploded in early-March) feel like a love tap compared to the coming jackboot to the stomach and then the head that is coming.

States are nearly ALL going to be close to or beyond bankruptcy by the end of June. Unemployment is NOT going to yo-yo back to full employment in a month, despite the proclamations of Ivanka's main penis to service and otherwise worthless piece of over-entitled piece of shit and all-around failure at everything - Jared.

Unemployment benefits will begin to run out in the later summer and by the early fall, it will become apparent that a second wave of SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) is cresting that will dwarf the first (as well as its echo - which will crest in late-June to early-July - after impatient idiots, in states without leaders but stuff to the gills with sycophants and party hacks, decided to pretend all was well at the beginning of May.

Food banks and donations and charities are already swamped. A month from now they will be a distant memory. Food insecurity is rapidly trending towards starvation for people without a job, without money, without benefits and without assistance from their country via their government.

Hungry people make bad decisions.
STARVING people make insane choices of the least heinous available choice.

If we do not start preparing for this NOW, if we continue to abide the fantasy that a broken and shattered economy can or will magically return to a past state that no longer exists or is feasible, then the whirlwind we reap will be just as the death toll is today - entirely our own collective fault.

Donald J. Trump must go. By any means necessary. To protect the people, to preserve the Constitution, to save the Republic. Without the certainty of a steady hand or empathetic reassurance of our commander-in-chief, the nation will devolve into chaos and deaths from virus will be topped by the conflicts that will explode around the land.

The only hope is a long and arduous path of sacrifice, self- and national-, and a protracted changing of society's rules, norms and rewards. The time has come to realize that 'essential' has to MEAN something monetarily, or the entire system will go from cardiac arrest to dead for ever.

There HAS to be a REAL plan...something bold and audacious and desperately needed....doesn't there? PLEASE???

None of this anything more than math and paying attention to science and history and attempting to understand that the root cause of the financial catastrophe IS the virus and the ensuing panic that its lightning fast spread and lethal results started in the first place. No businesses will regain full profits in a partially functioning, partially dysfunctional reality
