(43,240 posts)enemies, and will sacrifice their own to do it. They see it as war, and almost never give an inch.
Democrats just want their opponents (many refuse to look at them as enemies) to submit themselves to their 'better angels' and behave in a more humane fashion, plus many don't want to put anyone at risk. They see it as a philosophical dispute, and are willing to make compromise an oft-employed default stance.
Long-wave history says the first group will eventually win, unless the second group adopts some of the first group's precepts.
