My late mother just got a stimulus check

It was addressed

HER NAME DECD
% MY NAME
MY ADDRESS

There were instructions on the envelope to check the box and drop in the mailbox if the recipient was deceased. Obviously they knew she was deceased, it was right there in the address. She died two years ago this month. SMH.

1. Same here! It came today. I closed the estate on Jan 15.

Mom died in August 2018.

2. This happened to me last week.

Here's the kicker - I checked the box and put it in the mail as instructed, and today, it came back to me.

for a friend who died last year - hers came today too. STILL waiting to get mine.

4. "They knew"

in the sense that it was in a database somewhere. Along with millions of other bits of information.

But not "they knew" everything in the database.

At best they had somebody standing there making sure the high-speed printer didn't jam, and the pathway leading to the folding/sealing machine didn't get fouled.

Don't know if their software let them filter the database using some kind of string or if there's a switch set for living/dead they could have referenced as a criterion.
