How are people behaving where you live?

Are people sheltering at home as much as possible? Wearing masks when they go out? Practicing social distancing?

I live in Madison WI. Yes, we had a protest here, but that probably wasn't done people who live here. Yes, we had idiot Republicans who held an election at the polls April 7.

When I venture out I see most people wearing masks, even when exercising alone. I see that there are plastic shields where none existed before and stores are wiping down carts. I don't know of anyone who is sick now, but lots of people know someone who has been sick.

From here it looks like people are behaving as they should. Our cases need to decrease for a while before we can reopen.

The biggest problem, as always, is Republicans. They want to open everything sooner, because money is more important than human lives. Fortunately I think my company will be smart about it.

out unless it's necessary, despite our idiot Governor opening EVERYTHING! We actually have some businesses that are refusing to open because they don't feel it's safe yet. Most of our restaurants, if they did open for dining in are dramatically reducing their capacity.

I'm closely watching the report of new cases here in Ga. to see if Anchorage Daily News kemp's decision was premature or not. Should know in about 2 weeks.

Maybe 5 % wear masks at the stores. I see people golfing riding the golf carts together. Those who have common sense do stay at home but that's not the majority.

At least when I wear a mask nobody has dared to harass me.

My county went from 2 cases to 125 in a week or so. I'm in Rural southeastern Virginia in a Trump district.

From Day 1, there was a lack of leadership from the top, although trump didn't have the credibility to lead anyway. Anyway, the void in leadership is what has led to this moment. I'm just hoping that I don't lose anyone else.

parties, big mouths, loud cars, zooming in and out all day. They act like its all about them, as always. ( typical activities of the political affiliation-we don't even speak-I gave up years ago). The other neighbor makes up for the bad ones. I am grateful I have a large and heavily foliaged property.

Now, my community as a whole surprises me. Most are refraining from going out, the cars on the road are just a fraction of what it was. In stores, everyone wears a mask, gloves. I can only judge from what little I see since I only go out once a week for groceries.

procedural or surgical masks. There was an insanely huge donation of the masks by Willie Wilson a black millionaire and people are wearing them. I have noticed less people wearing masks in wealthier areas in the city and suburbs.

I drive a lot as a pediatric hospice nurse.

I was hiking around a park in a nicer suburb this weekend wearing a mask. Most people there were not. But, it wasn't crowded. There were not many people I would have left if lots of people were there.

It feels like everything is about to fall apart with so many people not caring.

We've had 112 confirmed cases with no deaths. We have no shelter-in-place order, just a recommendation. All the major offices are working from home policy, including my own.

I get out 1-2 times a day, and traffic is about normal. Restaurants are all curbside, and the mall parking lot is definitely empty. We go to a walking trail every day usually. People are getting outside to enjoy the weather, for sure. For the most part, everyone is distancing pretty well. Few people wear masks.

I think people are largely staying at ho,e, but have no issue going out for errands if they need to,. When I've been in Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes and Best Buy, people are keeping their space. My guess is 25% are wearing masks.

My office has about 2,500 employees. We are set to phase in a return on 5/18. Masks will be required.

I'm in Arkansas, and we've not been ordered to shelter. People are behaving fairly well.

My area (se oakland county) I see increased traffic, less masks then last week, more people out in parks. Near my parents(se macomb county), they see more traffic and people, but most are wearing masks. In Detroit itself, basketball courts are full, house parties, etc per a detroit cop friend of mine. This past weekend, she said the department issued over 1000 tickets or warnings for social distancing violations. Likely 3 to 4 times that in verbal warnings. Weather got nicer so everyone wants out

We live in the town of Goldfield, Nevada (population 300). This is in deep red rural Nevada: Trump won 77.78% of the vote in Esmeralda County and HRC won 15.37%. (Hillary just barely won Nevada overall.)

People in our town are ignoring social distancing guidelines; I see cars parked at friends' houses for dinners; people go to church events; I have yet to see a single mask in use. I heard that some people gather for karaoke 2-3 nights a week.

There are no recorded cases in this county yet, but NO testing either, so it's alla big unknown here.

It seems that people here don't believe the virus will ever get here, despite the fact that everyone goes to other cities (Tonopah, Pahrump, Bishop or Las Vegas) for shopping and services, so they are risking exposure there.

Sadly, if the virus does spread to this county it will be a disaster as there are NO health care services other than very basic EMT responders, no testing, no doctors, no nurses and no functioning health department. Plus the population is elderly.

In Tonopah at least, 26 miles from Goldfield, where we shop for food, about half the customers wear masks while the other half ignore social distancing guidelines and act as if nothing is different. Only one doctor there and no hospital.

The park is only open for "Active Recreation"-no chairs, umbrellas, coolers. Everyone observed six foot distancing. About 10% of the people had chairs, umbrellas, coolers despite the rules. I felt quite safe and once we'd walked for a few minutes we were practically alone. We walked about a mile and a half, turned around and walked back. It helped that the tide was out and there was a lot of sand to walk on. We will go back tomorrow around low tide.

You don't go out, you don't see what's going on.

I know that for a couple of weeks the congregating of kids and relatives next door stopped and there were fewer pick-up b-ball games in the street. And quieter--fewer parties in the yards.

They're back, though. Neighborhood kids and kids from the old neighborhood in the neighbor's yard. Across the back fence and down and across the street there were gatherings, some from the block but lots of cars from guests.

Heavily (D) area.

Decent in grocery stores although they allow too many people in. And the occasional asshole being an asshole. Went to target for a few things. Most had on masks and were keeping apart.

In line had some lard ass 20 something come right up next to me and look for a cola in the little drink cooler. Gave him the hard stare down he could not miss and he said “ sorry man” and backed the hell up. Was 3 seconds from saying something. Only ‘run in’ I have had.

Tomorrow the wife and I are pulling the boat to the gulf. Guaranteed we will not have anyone around us then! It also appears that some of the counties allowing beach openings are really enforcing distancing. May consider hitting one of them. With the recent news that the virus can’t live even a minute in 90 degree temps with sunshine being outside seems like a good plan as it heats up in Florida. And we like the heat!

Today the mayor of Orlando, 20 miles east of me did something interesting. He is a good democrat and can’t override the governors orders. Suspended a few ordinances and allowing restaurants to put up tables in their parking lot as long as the were separated and group sizes were limited. Makes sense to me.

We can’t stay totally shut down till we have a vaccine we may never get. And that was not the goal from the gitgo. We just have to find ways to be smart and keep the curve from becoming a spike. We will see.

Of course the wife and I will not be dining out. We are furloughed and once our Benefit time is used up it will be savings and Unemployment if we can ever get it.

But a lot of sweetness, too, like thank yous to first responders.

Mostly, pretty calm, but I find many have selected one or another camp. Open up now and stay the hell in.

I'm staying the hell in except to get groceries and then it's mask and hand sanitizer all the way.

About 50/50 wearing mask, most of us older folks are the ones wearing the mask.
They opened the beaches a few weeks ago but no tourist were allowed. Until the last
day the weather hasn't been that great for going and hanging out except for walking.
This weekend the weather was great, went down in the morning and sat back by the dunes,
no one sits that far back, they want to be down by the waves. Tide was out so there was
a good bit of room. We go down about 0830 and everyone was doing a great job of staying away
from each other. About 1pm it started getting crowded and the open area was starting to
fill in. Back by the dunes it was still empty so we were good. We left anyway just because
we only stay for a few hours normally.

SC just opened and the resort area is thrilled, the business are glad the tourist are
allowed to come in again. We're see how this all shakes out.

talk to people (with a mask on, of course). However, everyone in my building is wearing masks and being very cautious about distancing.

I have been talking to some friends who have been going to grocery stores and they said everyone there is very careful as well - wearing masks and socially distancing. I am getting the impression that Bostonians are taking this very seriously as we have a very high infection and death rate. We are very densely populated and people understand the risk.

These clowns who were protesting at the State House on Beacon Hill today were not locals. I am sure of it. I know that everyone in my neighborhood is very serious about this and so are most people in Boston Proper and even the surrounding suburbs. I honestly think the protesters today came in from NH and other RW enclaves in New England, but they definitely were not residents. I live here and I know.

Dr. Bonnie Henry, has told people they need exercise, fresh air, and sunlight. So go bike, run, walk. We social distance and non essential businesses are closed but no one is told they must stay indoors.

More and more people are going out and getting fresh air. The stores are busier because everything has a limit on it and people have to shop more frequently as a result. I see about 50/50 on masks. Oh and restaurants have delivery and takeout and are busy with both.
