I'm in New York State.
1) I know three people living in other states that were getting their hair done/hair cut today. Why? Is hair that important? Who gives a flying fuck about your hair? Everyone's hair looks like shit now. Who cares? Cut your own fucking hair if you're that worried about it.
2) I have to use my vehicle about twice a week for curbside pickups. Most people are wearing masks. but some are not. Let's say a relatively large minority are not. Why? What's your fucking problem? Some people have masks that are not adequate. Why are some of you people taking your mask off when you walk out of the store and into the parking lot? Why are you walking shoulder to shoulder with people?
3) Why is traffic increasing? We are still closed down except for essential travel. There has been hardly any traffic until this week. Where you fuckers going all of a sudden? I know you're not going to work. Got cabin fever? Too fucking bad. What are you, a toddler with no discipline at all?
4) Reading comments on local news sites...there are a LOT of people talking about Big Brother, 1984, we have rights, this is America I can go where I want, etc. You people thinking like this...you're dumber than an opened can of salted taints.
5) Trump at the Lincoln Memorial....blah blah I was saying 65,000, but now it could be 70,000, 90,000, 100,000 people. Really you dumb fuck? What number are you going to up it to next week, President Spongebrain?
6) You people killing security guards for asking you to put a mask on, that asshole who wiped his snot on some store employee....it's too bad we have a shitty mental health system in the US. Maybe you could have received some help before you did this. Now are going to have to spend a good portion of your remaining life in prison.
Someone is going to have to start raising some roofs. Show vids on TV of what it is like to die of Covid-19. You'll forget about your right to not wear a mask real soon after being flooded with that shit every 5 minutes. Drive it on home.
Anxiously awaiting the next fucked up death projection that brings the count up to half a million or so.
And Mr. Presidick, great move leaving the states to sink or swim without a coordinated federal response. Do you think there's a wall around each state or something? You big orange raccooned face, forward tilting, extra long tie wearing, illiterate monster, big brained stable genius, mushroom dicked fucker, you. Go fuck yourself with your mushroom dick and catch some kind of fatal killer anal fungus. Douche.

(5,721 posts)So I'm walking down to the station the other day because I'm "essential," and there's a fellow with a kid coming up the sidewalk. He has no mask. The kid has no mask. (I have an old N95 over a gaiter on my face because because I'm mortified by the possibility of spreading this crap.) The guy practically panics when he sees me approaching, dragging his kid to his other side, eyes darting in every direction like he's looking for cover in which to dive. I simply broke away into the parking lane of the street and went around, continuing on my merry way.
Did this clown fly into a panic every time he crossed paths with another human? If he's so concerned, why the hell isn't he covering up? What's wrong with him?

There seems to be a big misunderstanding about them. Based on what happened to you the other day, it looks like that man and his kid need a little education about masks.

(63,221 posts)It's maddening. Every day there is more MAGAT induced insanity. Sometimes I wish there was a "Good News" channel/website/paper to counter it all because it's just so depressing. If there was a visual for my mood these days it would be Edvard Munch's painting "The Scream".
Where in New York are you? I am originally from upstate NY, went to college way upstate and lived in NYC for 12 years before moving back to Boston.

(51,568 posts)Even before the virus, he was the worst since 1900. He has not managed this as a leader at all. He dumped it on everyone else's laps and let them take care of it.
I am thoroughly disgusted with my country and its population. I have lost respect for both. I do not know how and if I will be ever able to feel the way I used to about my country. Thank you fuckface Putin AND Comey!

Good for you for cutting your own hair when needed!
I mean, I wouldn't want to cut my own hair for the rest of my life, but during times like this, it is a good choice.

(60,010 posts)I can do the sides and top ok, evening out the back is a problem, but needed it cut, so hand held mirror standing in front of bathroom mirror actually worked pretty well. And it's not like I am going out to face a hair cut shaming public or anything.
trick seems to be using a good pair of sharp scissors.

(15,703 posts)If everyone goes out twice a week even different days, there will be traffic. Just common sense. Yes people should wear masks when dealing in public.

(17,414 posts)Each and every time I've gone out, prior to this week, the streets were practically deserted. This week shows an extreme and notable change.
Understand?

(15,703 posts)I think its awesome you get to go out twice a week and after 55-days others decide to do what youve been doing all along. Oh I understand alright.

(12,047 posts)"Normal" people know if they're not sick they have no need for a mask, its just there for the really sick to use or make you feel better, it won't stop the virus anyway, well, thats what the radio says.
Like that.

(12,369 posts)keeping the mask on outdoors. I live in the tropics. Its 85 and sunny all day, every day. The sun kills the virus after just a few minutes of exposure. I wear my mask in the store. When I come out I take it off because theres never anyone closer to me than six feet, usually about ten. People in my town stay far away from one another. The minute I get into my car I have a big bottle of Purell and I immediately wash my hands and anything else that I have touched. I see people walking the park and down the streets or riding a bike wearing a mask and I disagree with that. The virus is easily destroyed in sunshine and you dont really walk through a cloud of it, unless youre closely passing someone who is coughing or sneezing, and if youre avoiding people while on your walk, thats not an issue. One of the purposes of fresh air and exercise is to expand your lungs. Everyone should be doing some deep breathing exercises whether indoors or out, anyway, and these have to be done without a mask.
Now if you live in a crowded city and youre heading for a subway or a bus, of course different rules apply.

(17,414 posts)is that a lot of people here take off their mask outside when they are walking/gathering very close with a group of people.
I agree that it's ok to take it off outside if there is no one close to you.

(4,865 posts)I take my mask off after leaving the store, once I am in a space with no one close by. Am I doing it wrong?
I live in a coastal Oregon town. Tourist traffic is increasing daily even though we are technically in a lock down. The stores are definitely more crowded, and I'm seeing a lot of young surfers in particular. I don't know why anyone would surf in wetsuits and frigid waters, but they come in steady streams.
Hardy souls.

(17,414 posts)a lot of the time, as soon as people exit a store and walk into the parking lot, they immediately take their mask off and walk with a group of people in close proximity. This tells me that the only reason they have their mask on is because the store prohibits not wearing a mask when entering.
So no, I don't think you're doing anything wrong. I sometimes don't wear a mask when I am outside (ie: walking on the golf course across the street when there are no golfers out, mowing my own lawn, working in my own garden, etc).

(27,794 posts)one of our offices in China is re-opening on a trial basis. They've divided the team into two groups, Group A and Group B, and they come in the office on alternating days. The other thing they've done is required employees not to use public transportation. Our US office is not opening up anytime soon, but they've discussed the possibility of having a similar requirement, because buses and trains can be so crowded.
So the uptick in traffic you see might be people not using public transit who normally would. Now, our China office is asking employees to use Uber or Lyft or some Chinese rideshare that I forget the name of, and I don't know that that's a perfect solution unless the drivers are protected and are vigilant about cleaning out their vehicles. And it would be very distressing to me if our office had that same requirement in the US because I've always boycotted Lyft and Uber and have been a faithful transit user for 20-odd years now, but we are in different times.

(6,804 posts)The bifocal part at the bottom of my lens gets pushed up by the mask and I can't see as well as I'd like.
It's a bit un-nerving when people see me and avoid me in the grocery aisles.
But I love my wife and life so I'll wear it when I go into stores.
I won't go into crowds of my friends if they aren't.
But this isn't about I, My or Me.

(17,414 posts)then shake off the excess soap. Do not rince. Either let them dry or gently dry with a soft tissue. Since you did not rinse them, the soap will leave an unnoticeable film on your glasses that the water vapor from your breath will have a hard time sticking to. This should eliminate the fogging.

(2,007 posts)I think dogs are unnerved by it.
I have the distinct impression that the dogs that I run into while out on my daily walk are a little more nervous about me than they were pre-mask. *Maybe* they're picking up on their owners' unease, but I wonder if dogs read our facial expressions (i.e. mouths) to determine if we're threatening, and therefore get a little anxious that they can't see my mouth.
But even the dogs have the sense to not get aggressive about it. Shame that can't be said for the humans you've run into.
