I just hope that she doesn't contract COVID 19 while she is being treated for cholecystitis.

Acute cholecystitis is inflammation of the gallbladder. It usually happens when a gallstone blocks the cystic duct.

Gallstones are small stones, usually made of cholesterol, that form in the gallbladder. The cystic duct is the main opening of the gallbladder.

Gallstones are very common, affecting about 1 in 10 adults in the UK.

They do not usually cause symptoms, but can occasionally cause episodes of pain (biliary colic) or acute cholecystitis.

Acute cholecystitis is potentially serious because of the risk of complications.

It usually needs to be treated in hospital with rest, intravenous fluids and antibiotics.

Symptoms of cholecystitis
The main symptom of acute cholecystitis is a sudden, sharp pain in the upper right-hand side of your tummy (abdomen). This pain spreads towards your right shoulder.

The affected part of the tummy is usually very tender, and breathing deeply can make the pain worse.

Unlike other types of abdominal pain, the pain of acute cholecystitis is usually persistent and does not go away within a few hours.

Some people may have additional symptoms, such as:

a high temperature (fever)
feeling sick
being sick
sweating
loss of appetite
yellowing of the skin and the whites of the eyes (jaundice)
a bulge in the tummy

The Supreme Court made the announcement Tuesday night.

The 87-year-old justice underwent non-surgical treatment for what the court described as acute cholecystitis, a benign gall bladder condition, at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.

She expects to be in the hospital for a day or two, the court said.
Ginsburg took part in the court’s telephone arguments Monday and Tuesday and plans to do so again Wednesday, the court said.

She has been treated four times for cancer, most recently in August.

She initially sought medical care Monday, when the gallstone was first diagnosed.'

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who has had a series of health scares, underwent non-surgical treatment for a gallbladder condition on Tuesday and is “resting comfortably,” a court spokeswoman said.
Ginsburg, 87, had a gallstone that had caused an infection and was treated at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, spokeswoman Kathy Arberg said in a statement. Ginsburg is expected to participate in the court’s oral arguments on Wednesday remotely from the hospital.
