'We found his weak spot': Rick Wilson reveals why Lincoln Project ad caused Trump to fall apart

‘We found his weak spot’: Rick Wilson reveals why Lincoln Project ad caused Trump to ‘lose his damn mind’

One of the longtime Republican strategists behind the devastating new Lincoln Project ads targeting Donald Trump said that the conservative organization has found the president’s “weak spot” during a Tuesday evening interview on MSNBC.

MSNBC anchor Lawrence O’Donnell played the new ad, which has caused Trump to lash out at the Lincoln Project.

"There’s mourning in America."

“And so, you know, we expected this ad to hit. We did not expect him to behave in the completely maniacal way he behaved all day, but here we are,” he added. “We are here because of him. We have hung this rotten corpse around his neck, and he’s going to have to drag it around for a few months”, Rick Wilson said.

schtick just seems too odd. Call me crazy, but I'm starting to think Kellyanne is a Never Trumper mole, feeding George insider info so he can drive the POS bonkers. How else does George always manage to have Trump's number so effectively? Is Kellyanne a covert Republican insurgency operative, planted inside the belly of the beast? Inquiring minds want to know.

For an obviously intelligent woman, Kellyanne has given voice to the dumbest and most absurd defenses of Trump imaginable. She singlehandedly turned Trump into a laughingstock from the very beginning, what with stuff like her notorious "alternate reality" line. The woman always delivers her lies with a knowing smirk, like she's secretly trolling Trump from the WH lawn, or during her ridiculously over-the-top cable tv guest spots. The only thing she hasn't done is wink.

people. Even if he's too stupid to see the act, someone on his staff has to see it.

If he really is being conned this way and won't listen, things are worse than we thought. But it does help explain how easily he's conned by Putin and Kim.

She did her part with her endless lies and spins to get Trump elected. She's just an opportunist doing whatever it takes for her job.
If she's an insurgency operator against Trump, she shouldn't have belped to get him elected.

We know how Trump is such a sucker for praise. Kellyanne just heaps it on him and that blinds him to her ulterior motives. I'm sure his advisers tell him not to praise Kim of Korea, but he ignores that advice too. If it is her, I not only hope that she helps bring Trump down, but also destroys Stephen Miller. He is one evil fother mucker!

But, they represent the more genteel wing of Movement Conservatism, and view Trump as an existential threat to true conservatism and the Republican party establishment. I suspect Kellyanne is working from within the administration to make Trump a one-term president, and ensure the barbarian wing of the GOP never seizes power again.

It's should also be obvious the Never Trumpers we enjoy watching on MSNBC and CNN - "former" Republicans like Steve Schmidt, Rick Wilson, David Jolly, Nicolle Wallace, and tweeters like George Conway and others - are not our friends. Once Trump is gone, these folks will go right back to supporting people like Cruz, Bush, Rubio and McConnell.

I think there is no way she will ever support folks like McConnell, etal.

Will she be a flaming lefty? Doubtful. I think she is like my friend Amelia, who was very, very conservative, but is now very socially liberal, and she loathes Trump and his ilk. I asked her if she would ever vote for a Republican again, and she said MAYBE, on a very local level, but never above that. And, she's someone who was much more conservative that Wallace ever was. Trump really did give many folks a sea change in their politics. I think Wallace is one of them.

Agreed, they're liberal on social issues like race, religion, abortion, gender equality, sexual orientation, the environment, and things like gun control and climate science. However, on economic issues like taxation, government regulation, trade policy, military and foreign policy, as well as the role of government in healthcare, education, finance and the markets, they're true conservatives.

These folks despise Trump because he's an embarrassing vulgarian, who's destroying their beloved Republican party from within, not because he cut their taxes, supports deregulation of the markets and appointed corporatists like Gorsuch and Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. As soon as Trump's gone, I suspect they'll all rejoin the Republican party.

Once they identify his triggers, they can goad him into unhinged, self-destructive reactions at will.

One of the many reasons it’s terrifying he’s president, but it will be fun to watch over the next few months.

"Under the leadership of Donald Trump our country is weaker, sicker, poorer..."

They pin him with it. He's weak, sick, poor and he dragged the country down to his level. He's a chickenshit bully con artist but he can't bully or con his way out of what everyone can see -- because of him, we're weaker, sicker, poorer. These are the very things he slings at everyone else in order to make himself feel superior. Like everyone who is a cowardly bully, he can't take what he dishes out. His biggest fear is that everyone will see through his fakery and see how weak and pathetic he really is.

This is exactly what he's afraid of. Died-in-the-wool Republicans and new generation Republicans who came of age politically during the Reagan years -- they are finally woke.

And they have some very good questions to which Trump is the wrong answer.

If I run out of paychecks, what's gonna happen?
If my loved one dies of Covid 19, what's gonna happen?
Fear is in the streets, what the hell just happened to my country?

Truly I cannot get over how coverage of such an incompetent, insecure, malevolent person ever became skewed to the current point. It was clear Trump was in over his head long ago, and moreover no one would ever have heard of him without his father's millions. And with every challenge, Trump shows himself unfit for much of anything.
