Trump's trainwreck ABC interview illustrated why he rarely strays from Fox News

https://www.vox.com/2020/5/6/21249074/trump-abc-david-muir-interview-coronavirus

<snip>
While Fox News hosts are content to let Trump rant and rave with little regard for
lies or coherency, World News Tonight host David Muir sent Trump into a tailspin with a question that he should’ve seen coming: Why didn’t he do more to prepare for the coronavirus that has killed more than 72,000 Americans and counting?

It was as though Trump had never thought about it before. And it wasn’t the only moment in which the president was flummoxed. He had no plan for bringing the spread of the virus under control and offered little beyond his widely criticized idea that states should reopen their economies swiftly — even as none has met the White House coronavirus task force’s criteria for doing so.

The interview took place during Trump’s at times surreal, mask-less trip to a Honeywell plant in Phoenix, Arizona, where masks are produced. It was one of his first public appearances away from the White House since he declared the coronavirus to be a national emergency in mid-March.

<snip>
During the interview with Muir, Trump tried to deflect questions about his administration’s failures with regard to obtaining personal protective equipment and deploying an effective coronavirus test by pinning blame on former President Barack Obama. This talking point is absurd, but he has largely gotten away with making it during press briefings.

Fox is a safe haven for them to lie without being challenged. I am sure it will be a long time, if ever, that Trump will go on another network.

What a complete failure! And anyone who can't see it is blind and/or stupid. He never accepts responsibility for anything. Does he have any idea how he sounds? How weak it makes him look? Exactly the opposite of a leader who takes responsibility for everything under his control.

and if he had he would have set Trump into his paranoid attack state. This would have not yielded near what Muir actually got out if him.

Yes Trump is used to Fox and he calls on OAN at pressers because he knows they are both safe and cultists. Muir seems to have set him at ease and Trump didn’t realize it. Trump could just have been showing that Muir’s#1 rating influenced him.
