The Lincoln Project ad should only be a taste. Trump needs to be attacked relentlessly. When your opponent is of choleric temper, irritate him. Sun Tzu, the Art of War. Nothing gets to Trump like mocking him and he's such an easy target. No quarter. Ads that compile a series of his nonsensical quotes and mindless blathering should run non stop. Stuff comes out of his mouth that can only make sense to someone who's MAGA hat is on too tight for too long. Put it all together in a series of ads that just end by saying "does this make sense to you?" He will explode.

(2,419 posts)relentless mocking of Trump and his supporters. I usually opt for a more substantive approach but logic and reason are useless here. Trump's real weak point is being belittled. It's why he engages in that behavior more than any other. It's very revealing about his psyche-and his followers as well. There is an endless well of non-sequitur, moronic blatherings, contradictions-sometimes in the same sentence-and near comedic statements sufficient to yield hours of material. The notion of people laughing at him is what keeps Trump up tweeting at night. I say mock away!

(8,809 posts)The Dems have more than abundant ammo to go after the Pig and His Repub Senators and administration.
Pound on them, every single day, relentlessly.
The Dems should have been doing this since day one of his so called administration. The Dems seem to be MIA????
Trump especially hates on target hits of him by intelligent women, so they should be the ones leading the charge.
With them pounding away, day after day, he would probably have an aneurism.......
He is the Champion of Bankruptcies, he has failed at most, if not all, of his businesses. To him this is his biggest and best yet, no small wonder he has bankrupted America and now is just trying to walk away, squeaky clean, from the carnage he has implemented and caused just as he has done with everything in his putrid life.
Of course all of his trashing America and our Democracy has made his idol, Putin, extremely happy and full filled.....

(6,818 posts)Thanking god for the existence of the cretins who aided and abetted installation of Bush II? Very unnecessary.
Appreciate the help? OK. But until they come, hat in hand, humbly and publicly apologizing for that horror, they're just the same whores they always were. Watch your back because this is how the GOP survives the age of Trump and that can't be good.

(6,818 posts)You think the Democrats don't have enough factionistic tendencies to provide alternate points of view? There are enough points of view in this thread alone to provide basis for a multiple of political parties. Surely your definition of election day doesn't require that good go up against evil in a winner takes all contest. That won't work out to well as is illustrated by the present case.
It wasn't always like this. It's just that the GOP has piled bad onto bad for the last 60 years in order to define itself into electoral relevance. It's reached the point of saturation, just too bad to go on.
Perhaps you're just disagreeable today. You did, after all, wake up into a nightmare.

Where are our people who can make ads like this?
That's what I was considering. I hate to say this, but it's the media that is complicit in the present make up of the Republican party. The sensationalizing of extreme right wing nut points of view and demonstrations lead to this. It's the media that made the Tea Party so powerful, and because of that we have horrible consequences. They helped normalize aberrant behaviors.

The thing is, we don't have a "gun" equal to the power of the executive office. He's unstable, and knows that Pence won't invoke the 25th, so he'll use every last power he has to counter any threat he perceives to his toxic, fragile ego. That's what an abuser does when they feel that their power is being threatened. They will strike out at the most vulnerable.
He has nothing to lose by going off the rails in apissing contest, which could harm a lot of people, including immigrants in detention, millions of deaths or people with permanent disabilities in a pandemic,
This is why you don't see Fauci calling him a "lying asshole," then dropping the mic and walking off the job, no matter how many crave a "FUCK YEAH!" moment.
It's just not worth risking of all those lives. If he decides to "burn it all down" to show he's still got the power to do so, the most vulnerable will suffer the most, as always.

He's just not behaving equally like a narcissist and challenging Trump to a pissing contest every ten minutes. There are more effective ways to do things than to pointlessly provoke a mentally unstable wannabe tyrant, especially when the nation actually craves intellect, calm and stability in leadership.
Contrary to what many think, there are ways to display strength without pissing or firearms, figurative or literal....

(9,895 posts)This kind of domestic terrorism and threatening behavior should be met with the same disproportionate force of say a black man jogging or selling cigarettes, or walking down the street with a bag of candy on the way home.
I am so sick of these images of 'patriots' when what they really are is a bunch of domestic terrorists, period.
I want my war on terror to extend to them.
I want to feel safe in my own country.
Idiots wielding guns and violating safety measures doesn't make me feel safe...it makes me want to stay remote from society and from their precious service economy.

No one here thinks they are 'patriots.' That's letting Trump get inside your head.
Again, what do you think the results of "taking out" these protesters would be? Remember the reaction to the "taking out" of the Branch Davidians? Ruby Ridge?
Those are the battle cries of the wingnut militia groups....

Yes, Trump, when feeling threatened, ramps up his hate rhetoric to get his supporters in a frenzy, and some of them act on it. It's not just theatre for some, and we need to be aware of the consequence of Trump lashing out when he feels cornered.
I think he's completely capable of launching a military strike when he feels his "image" is being effectively attacked if he believes it will make him look more like a strong man. Or a crackdown that irreparably harms and traumatizes thousands of immigrant children, and sends families back to their deaths in their country of origin.

(333 posts)at least 5 of them are wearing masks!! I really don't think these are real patriots. I think these guys were paid for by the RNC. Why put on masks!! Why are they wearing gloves and coats it wasn't cold, it was pretty warm. There is something suspicious about these guys. I don't think they are real militia.

Yes, at least some of those in the photo are members of a militia, the Michigan Liberty Militia, to be specific.

I don't think that they are all paid by the RNC or anyone, however. They appear to be very enthusiastic about being there on their own, and not simply standing around until they need to go... They're there because they really want to be.

I think that some wear masks because they don't want to be identified in the media - some of those identified in the Charlottesville white power rally got fired or expelled from their college when identified.
I have heard that various conservative groups, especially gun rights groups, are the ones behind this "grassroots" Vanilla ISIS. Witmer is both female and a Democrat, and that threatens the fragile masculinity of the ammosexuals.

(32,640 posts)So, no, it didn't "take him down." Mel Brooks did this in the safety of a functional society, long after Hitler. Performing this in Germany during his reign would have gotten one sent to a camp to die.
And....no one is saying that comedians should not poke fun at Trump, and they are.
No one, however, seriously thinks that comedians will weaken him, take him down, or convince him to quit.

(333 posts)You need to go back and read the materials written about this man. Read the DSM-V on NPD. It may temporarily hurt his feelings but in the long run, as long as he has lots of money and supporters, he'll will be determined to bounce back with a vengeance. Stormy Daniels, a well known porn star, wrote in her book how bad sex was with trump, she even ridiculed his penis size, she talked about how ugly and small it was. Nancy pelosi even talked about it. And 3 years later he is still going, unchanged, just as destructive and incompetent as ever, ready to be reelected. YOU ARE WRONG IN THAT YOU ARE TOO TRUMP FOCUSED WHEN YOUR MESSAGE SHOULD BE AIMED AT HIS BASE---THIS MESSAGE SHOULD ALSO INCLUDE THE FAILURES OF FOXNEWS, NAMELY FOX AND FRIENDS, LAURA INGRAM, SEAN HANNITY AND OTHERS. THIS MESSAGE SHOULD ALSO INCLUDE THE FAILURES OF CONSERVATIVE TALK RADIO, NAMELY RUSH LIMPBAUGH. Nevermind how it affects trumps ego, that's not important, he's 73 years old and this is not new to him. We need to weaken the foundation of the systems that support him, his base, foxnews, conservative talk radio.
