So I just got back from filling a prescription at my local Walgreens

Last edited Fri Sep 14, 2012, 02:31 AM - Edit history (1)

The night pharmacist is a really great guy and very friendly. I gave him my prescription then sat down and pulled out a Frank Rich New York Magazine article about Romney's Libyan clusterfuck. Anyway, the pharmacist was chatting with a guy who looked like he was in his mid-50's and could very easily have been a teabilly fuckhead. They were talking about a Iowa (?) when all of a sudden the customer launched into an anti-Romney rant about the whole Libyan debacle. I was flabbergasted. The pharmacist said he had been pulling a lot of hours all week so he hadn't kept up. The guy filled him in and then some. I piped up and we all had a fun talk. The customer said that he had been a registered Independent his entire adult life, but after this week he said who am I kidding? I will never vote for a Republican so he changed his party affiliation to Democrat. I congratulated him and so did the pharmacist. Now I know his politics!

I live in Grand Rapids, MI, which is Ground Zero for the Richard DeVos/Jay VanAndel/Amway/Erik Prince/ Blackwater or Xe of whatever in hell they're calling themselves these days brand of teabagger evil so I am always surprised when I hear a different point of view. I ended up giving the pharmacist my article so he could catch up. The customer told me to not forget to vote because if Romney wins he would probably inadvertently start a war with Canada. I told him there was no chance of sitting this one out. He also took a dim view of justin Amash too.

It was pretty cool & most unexpected. Sweet dreams, DUers!

Thanks for this good news BUT - DO NOT GET COMPLACENT!!!! This thing isn't won yet.

I am so worried for younger women though. Queen Ann is so full of shit when she dismisses reproductive rights as a mere "distraction". WTF? Come on. Even someone as clueless as her surely knows that if you take away a woman's right to control her own fertility it's Game Over. It won't matter a damn if the economy is going gangbusters; if a woman is frequently pregnant then taking care of a bunch of kids she won't be able to participate in that booming economy. Duh.

Is it just me or does Ann Romney get more annoying every time she opens her mouth?

about birth control or the need to keep abortion legal. But I passed through all those years. I know many stories of friends who got abortions, legal and illegal. Our control over our reproduction is crucial.

14. It's an absolute NON-NEGOTIABLE for me.

It's OFF THE TABLE. Don't even start with me if you think otherwise. Don't even go there. Don't even TRY to convince me otherwise. Don't even bother. You'd be wasting your breath.

MY right to have the last word over what happens to MY body - is NON-NEGOTIABLE. PERIOD.

And even though I myself no longer HAVE a period.

It is a NON-NEGOTIABLE. It will NEVER be on the table for me under ANY circumstance. Simply a NON-STARTER.

15. No it's not just you! And her ladyship ann of dressage, or "ayn" for short, just doesn't get it.

SHE is "other." She and her husband. They do NOT get it. They don't even begin to get it. They're from another reality, another world. A world where you have the best that money can buy, and there is no shortage of money to ease your way and grease your skids, and nothing's a problem. Who cares if you get knocked up again? Your rich hubby can afford to keep you in comfort and style so you could just keep on spreading your legs anytime you want with no consequence. You'll never want for the finest prenatal care, the finest and most chic maternity room, the best of the first-class doctors, the best baby clothes, the most lavish nurseries, and all the nannies and household help money can buy.

Furthermore, there's so much money that you can afford to raise those kids in style! The finest schools and tutors and clothing and summers in the most luxurious style, the best Christmases money can buy, the best of everything, the finest colleges that your money can probably get them into with no sweat whatsoever so it doesn't even matter what kind of report cards they have!

As a matter of fact, you have so much money that you can afford to give them - what was it? Each of the five wrongney sons, who are healthy and strong and never had to serve in the military, was given ten million dollars to get them started? Or 20 million dollars each? I forgot how much - but what I did remember was that: the MOMENT these five boys even started out, they were set for life. Even if they did NOTHING for the rest of their lives but sit around and watch TV. They could live off that personal endowment like princes of the realm for the rest of their lives, and probably have enough that their kids would each inherit enough to live like kings for the rest of THEIR lives.

If ANYONE in this presidential campaign is "other," it's THEM! If ANYONE in this campaign is "not like us," it's the wrongneys! They're on another frickin' PLANET than the rest of us, forcryingoutloud!

I am sitting on my couch surrounded by contented, slumbering furbabies. Life is good. I even had enough money left over to have Sammy neutered at the vet's office instead of C-Snips, the local low-cost spay & neuter clinic. C-Snips is always very busy so I was happy to give up my spot to someone else needier than me. The vet only charges $20 more, but that is a lot to people like me. Sammy probably won't be too thrilled, though.

A-Mazing in Grand Rapids! I've heard it's a gop area. This "clusterfuck" by Romney finally shooting himself in both feet is too much for a thinking person to ignore.

This is just good news especially since I've been boiling mad ever since getting home and reading all the atrocious, treasonous(yeah, I call it treasonous) crap that romney and his advisers have been spewing about PBO.

Pleasantly shocked! We, too, live amongst the vipers at the same ground zero. I used to get dirty looks wearing my anti-Bush t-shirts in Meijer, and back in those years was approached by a woman in the veterinarian's parking lot for my bravery - my vehicle was sporting an anti-Rethug sticker. Geesh. So thanks for relating your story. It's very encouraging that some are waking up.

"Brand of teabagger evil" ... I may steal that.

on Plainfield and 2 women in different cars came up to me while I was pumping gas and asked me where I got my "Dogs Against Romney, Cat Division" bumpersticker because they wanted one too. I've only seen 1 Pro-Romney sticker and NONE for that cretin Amash. Definitely different but awesome, vanboggie. Keep the faith!

Have you ever gone to Amash's FB page? I actually joined it so I could openly call him on his stupidity. It was kind of scary thinking we live among his followers till I realized that a great number of them are from other states. I think his cheerleaders are paid for by Rove's PAC - or perhaps ALEC interns.

It's good to hear people are finally catching on to the fact that we're on the precipice of total Fascism and at this moment in time, in this election, Obama is the only thing standing between us and them. Things are looking up, and if Rover doesn't pull out his vote flipping routine, we just might have a chance of survival.

Love your bumper sticker and from another local progressive, the dogs, the cat and the horse! You really did cheer my week with that Walgreen story.

make my day. I recently moved into a Senior Complex and have met a couple solid democrats here - one next door. Sitting at the bus stop 2 weeks ago, one of my neighbors joined me. He asked where I was going - I said to the 'soft' opening of our local campaign office. Where was it? Phone number? He wants to volunteer. He now goes a couple of times a week, sits down and starts calling the phone list. I love when casual conversations turn out like that.

I am so happy to know your anxiety has lessened and you and your fur babies are snug.
