I found out today someone I knew died from Covid 19. He was 38 yrs old

One of my sister's childhood friends died of Covid 19 yesterday. I have not seen him in years. My sister kept in touch with him even though we left NYC many years ago. Even though I haven't seen him in a long time I have so many memories of him at my parents' house when we were younger. Even more tragic, he lost his wife to cancer a year ago. He adopted his wife's daughter when he married her. He's the only dad she's ever known.

That is sad. I hope you will be able to focus on all the good memories as a tribute to his being here, since without him, they would not be there.

What lies ahead is going to be absolutely brutal and horrific. With both the Virus AND the Political situations.

This shit is serious people. Don't think that what we're doing now isn't for nothing. It's to save your damn life.

I’m in northern NJ. We’re second to NYC in suffering.

There have been many deaths in the under-60 category. I’m 65 and healthy. That’s no defense.

Last week, my town had a heart-wrenching funeral procession for a police officer who lived in town. He was 53 and fought the virus for a month.

This isn’t the flu.

to heal the hurt that comes from something like this.

Too soon, knowing someone who is no longer with us will be too common for most people.

Thoughts.
Prayers.
Condolences.

Words that cannot touch the pain.

Let the hurt fade in it's own good time. Concentrate on the now, on protecting yourself. Let things be, think only kind thoughts to yourself.

Cry or rant at the sky if you want.

Be yourself, don't bottle things up.

Blanket yourself in the sadness these things bring, but avoid self pity.

Ask not why, with time will come acceptance.
