Fired aircraft carrier captain Brett Crozier takes Navy job in San Diego

The former captain of the USS Theodore Roosevelt may have been relieved from his duties last month in response to his concerns about coronavirus spreading on his ship. But Capt. Brett Crozier has a new job, as the Navy Times reports that Crozier has left Guam to take a temporary job with Naval Air Forces in San Diego — a gig that could possible serve as a mere interlude before he gets his old position back.

Crozier, who was fired on April 2 in the aftermath of a leaked letter to his superiors, actually tested positive for coronavirus himself, and was quarantining with his former crew in Guam until this week. On Monday, he arrived in San Diego, where he’ll begin work as special assistant to the Naval Air Forces chief of staff.

It wasn't Navy brass that fired him, it was a trump crony who has already resigned groundloop May 2020 #3

1. It's called a "Stash" assignment

We used to do this all the time. Most of the time it was because someone got relieved of their duties and we needed a place to stash them while their case was ajudicated, or while they awaited retirement or separation, or reassignment...if possible.

It's common for a senior officer to be assigned to a flag staff as a "stash".

I wouldn't think much of this, other than that the media ought to take the time to talk to folks with military experience before breathlessly reporting about the b Captain's new assignment.

Could it be a stash pending being reinstated? Sure.

But it's not uncommon, unusual, or unprecedented for a relieved Officer to be stashed at a flag Officer staff.

I seriously doubt it. Military brass don't like to reverse their decisions, because it makes them look indecisive and thus look bad. Crozier got the message, here's a part time job, now get the f**k out, your career is over.

Remember, these are all kiss-asses hoping for for that Admitral star first before anything.

I don't want people to think that this is somehow an indication that the Captain is about to get reinstated.

I wish the media would take the time to reach out to folks with military experience before they run stories.

One example that torqued me was a story that referred to that dipshit Steve "I'm Stress Testing My Dress Blues" Bannon as a "former Navy Captain".

Apparently, they saw that he wore Two Silver Bars on his uniform, and they looked up Army, Air Force or Marine Rank Insignia to come up with that.

That and calling a ship of war a "boat" causes me to get my Skivvies twisted.
