Washington PostSigning up for the Trump app subscribed me to not one, but two automated text chains. The first came in from the Trump campaign within seconds of sign-up, informing me that I had just gotten Reward Access Unlocked, thus qualifying me to earn points & meet Pres Trump during the campaign in fall. One minute later, the Republican National Committee thanked me for joining the team, and asked whether I could let the president know what you think of this week's accomplishments.
Following the first link took me back to the Trump campaign page; following the second gave me a yes or no poll on whether I approved of the president, with space to write about why. I didnt go further than that, but two hours later, the RNC texted with news: You were 1 of the 25 President Trump selected for a 5X-MATCH EXTENSION! The other 24 patriots already donated, now it's your turn.
Following that link, I was offered a shot at a video call from Joe and told that the average gift is only $25. A form to fill in an exact donation amount was left blank; a box that would make this a one-time donation, not a recurring one, was already checked.
Over the next few days, it was easy to forget that the Biden app existed. Push texts were infrequent, and unlike the Trump app, the Biden app didn't let me track virtual campaign events. (That was on the website.) TeamJoe offered me a few options and news items, all of which directed me from the app back to the campaign website. For 24 hours, the top news item was a new Biden campaign pledge, which I could take, committing myself to empathy, keeping the faith, humility, and no malarkey, among other nice things. If I wanted to volunteer, the app made it easier, but not addictive.

(7,894 posts)who sold your parents or Grand parents Time shares they could never quite use but had to pay for through the nose. They are masters at motivating and zealous guilting. They know just how to push your buttons to get the money or get under your skin.
It is a massive PR operation funded by the money Trump's pals saved on taxes, got in the no-bid contracts or the bailouts.

(89,247 posts)Democrats are not like Republicans and would most likely get annoyed with push notifications and being contacted all the time. people already always complain about emails asking for donations which they can easily delete .
this seems to work with republicans because they don't do much else. Same reason talk radio is popular with republicans but not with democratic leaning types .
All the Trump crap just seems like Trump MAGA Fanatics kissing his ass .

(20,678 posts)Dems aren't sheep, and we're not children. We don't need to be sold. We have hundreds of reasons to support the Vice President.

I'm sick of it.

(19,199 posts)I give monthly to 5 democrats, but they all treat me like I'm a new fish, waiting to be caught. We need to get the damned money out of politics. It's incredibly annoying and time draining.

(964 posts)They are not looking for thinking people. They are looking for those who like to feel like they are winning something. It's using a gambler's profile of addiction to win a prize which is to get the Turd on the Throne. They made theFatass their prize goal.

(17,003 posts)Thank you should be sent as close to immediately as possible. New content weekly for now, daily as we get closer to the election. Alerts accordingly with the option to pick what you want. Option for e-mail or text. The hardest group to motivate are the youth and they are they ones we desperately need to get to the polls. They live by/on their phones.

(233 posts)Ive also experienced the lack of pushes and motifications from Joe. We need to step up big time now, especially when Trump is being seen and portraited negatively by the majority. I understand the whole country is going through tough times, but the gloves need to be taken off. Joe needs to go after Trump more.

(58,785 posts)to the point that I had to go search, even after signing up to be on the email list, for Biden's live podcasts. I expected a lot more emails period than an un-overwhelming 5 or so a day from 3 Biden-campaign addresses. Those don't include all the other Democratic-related organizations, of course, but it's a huge drop-off from the influx during the primaries.
Email reaches older people a lot more, and it may be we older Democrats are believed too solid to have good returns on trying to aggravate us into some -- any -- kind of action.
Generally speaking, though, this seems to be a continuation of the kind of campaigning aimed at most Americans that kept Biden as the lone frontrunner, way above all others, from before the beginning to now. (We now know IA and NH gave people a very mistaken idea of what was really happening.)

Joe needs to be OUT THERE. Maybe holding a fireside chat every evening. OR morning. OR something. It's been WAY too quiet.

(9,600 posts)The Democratic party strategist are too slow on the uptake. They act like they have everything covered. They better figure out how to create an energy that captures the Democratic voters attention and do not stop pushing and pulling until the election is over.

(7,572 posts)....found out about his podcasts....there was a link on his website, but it wasn't obvious. Also it would be nice to be informed by the campaign when he is going to go on a news show, surely they have that information ahead of time. (I don't keep the TV on all day). I think more than one text a day is annoying, unless it is actually informing.

(36,032 posts)Several FB posts per day on FB. Auto-messaging on FB, too. Surveys, team meetings, live call sessions. For months.
We already know there will always be differences in Republican and Democratic campaigning, content and style. We already know there are supposed to be differences in the parties due to the world outlooks of their members.
What is the point of a comparison of two candidates' online push presence -- an academic exercise? to say that difference equals deficit?
We're into May of a major deadly global pandemic with millions living through stay-at-home advice from scientists, trying to get past sickness and death.
My take on all this is Parscale/Trump online busy-ness campaign is exactly that -- to deflect from this fakeass president's utter ruination of millions of American lives, half of whom are his voters. There's nothing in the Parscale method that hides the death all around, the destroyed government, destroyed foreign standing, the banal evil of driving Americans down
As for Biden: We all ought to know that you don't get out there and stump when your opponent is completely wrecking everything. It's the "please proceed" tactic.
Whatever the point of this WaPo piece, it's not time to worry, stress ourselves, or let the so-called perfect be the enemy of the good.
Biden, Bloomberg, Obama and their teams got this.
