White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany on Friday blamed what she appeared to describe as misleading headlines from CNN for her past criticisms of the president.
A recent report from CNNs KFile showed McEnany criticized then-candidate Trump for his assertion that Mexico was sending its worst nationals over the border, and that some are rapists and killers.
"To me, a racist statement is a racist statement. I don't like what Donald Trump," McEnany said in an exchange on CNN in late June 2015, according to the news outlet.

During a White House press briefing Friday, PBS White House correspondent Yamiche Alcindor asked McEnany whether she still believed the comments Trump made in 2015 on the campaign trail were racist.

(12,712 posts)I think she could do much better as the Propaganda Minister of the Regime, safely embedded under several layers of Tammy Faye Bakker-stype makeup that would create a spectral rain of colors if she ever cried on camera.
I expect more from her for the money. Let's get jiggy with the "facts" McEnany, whose name sounds like like it belongs at the end of a line in a dirty limerick.
The Ministry of Truth requires the very best performances as per the show script. Get going, Ivanka-ganger.
I don't just want alternate facts anymore, I want the alternate alternate facts of the truthy true reality. Create fiction can be entertaining, at least. Otherwise, can her and get a pulp fiction novelist in there to give us some circus with our steaming piles.

(82,849 posts)Pence carries empty boxes for a photo op, then denies that's what he was plainly doing, and the apologists pop up to say that no, you can see on the video that he moves some boxes, but it's not clear if they're empty or not. In spite of Pence's ask, now everyone says that no, Pence didn't and didn't want to move empty boxes for a photo op.
Trump makes disparaging comments about immigrants and refugees from Mexico, and McEnany originally calls the comments for the bigotry they are. But now she's drawing a paycheck that depends on fluffing Trump, and suddenly she says that Trump's racist comments weren't racist at all. And the media agree to say just that.
